Hell yeah, men noorderburen! (Aka: de niet verlegen scheten die Nederlands praten) ❤️🫡

[-] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 2 points 41 minutes ago

Not to make this about looks because that’s way beside the point.

But this kinda reminds me of George Carlin’s “why is it that the ones who are against abortion are people you wouldn’t wanna fuck in the first place?”

If you’re feeling left out just fucking say so.

Keep that sucker offline, no matter much it begs and pleads. No updates for you, as you sit and reflect on what a bad bad OS you’ve been.

USA people, if you don’t manage to get out of this jam, it’s been real. One last chance guys, don’t mess it up.

There’s this meme from a while ago that observes the fact that the 80’s and early 90’s weren’t as colourful and flashy as most media make them out to be. In fact almost everything ranging from clothing to furniture to advertising was a drab shade ranging between dark brown to orange.

Every once in a while you’d get a toy or a household appliance that would be a bright neon colour and it would be considered hi tech advanced fancy stuff (until it broke the next day).

Nowadays you’d have to look hard for dark brown/orange drab stuff. They make dark brown/orange stuff but it usually is made of a veneer of fancy wood and it’ll cost you an arm and a leg. (And then it breaks the very next day)

Let’s share stories, I’ll start:

story 1 Towards the end when I was struggling with my beliefs and getting one foot in deconstruction I had a conversation with the Pastor about their doctrine and practices (which were becoming pretty out there and wishywashy/wuwu). Particularly the “sozo ministry” which is kind of a hypnotism/meditation baloney thing.

Me: So in essence we’re in the business of reprogramming people now?

Pastor: (without hesitation or pause) Yes.

story 2 I was somewhat close with a let’s say “semi celebrity” pastor in the evangelical/protestant/baptist/… circles. The unspoken idea was that I’d become sort of a spokesperson to get a branch of his ministry of the ground where I live.

We’d call frequently on Skype. At some point he calls me and without any prompt starts telling me about the birds and the bees and making the case that maybe sometimes it’s ok in gods eyes to take of business on your own…

I was a grown man around 30 at the time mind you… wtf dude. Awkward and unnecessary.

Story 3 Each charismatic church is already a melting pot of mental issues.

One particular collection of issues thought it was a good idea to come to my place unannounced and tell me that god knows that I live like a bachelor.

Bitch get the fuck outta here, like being single isn’t already enough of a shame issue in church circles.

In short=> don’t bother with church kids because it’s all just bs and pointless nonsense like this.

Hey everyone,

Is there a Linux native program that can program Dali lighting systems? (Or perhaps even domotica more broadly?). The use case will be Qbus. But if I can get Dali going by itself that’ll be a good start too.

Thx in advance!

Being misunderstood (leminal.space)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by FreddiesLantern@leminal.space to c/adhd@lemmy.dbzer0.com

I’m not sure if this is an ADHD related thing so I want some feedback.

For the longest time whenever I try to communicate an idea, a process, a plan, a piece of information … I’m oftentimes either not taken serious or people misunderstand me.

I know for myself that I sometimes skip steps in my explanation because I feel they’re too obvious to bother explaining. But sometimes it’s ridiculous to the point where I feel like people are out to dismiss me not on the basis of the information I’m providing.

Does this resonate with anyone?

Edit: thanks for all the feedback! This has given me some material to work with.

Scenario in short:

I’m trying to install LineageOS onto a spare phone that I have (redmi note 8T) Hoping to get a daily driver out of it. The installation process requires me to install Android11 to install lineage on top of /over that. Which afaik isn’t directly available outside of some websites that I’ve never heard of.

For safety’s sake: would the install of lineage wipe the install of Android11? Or could there still remain backdoors?

My little contribution: in searching for alternatives to software by origin it’s often quite a hassle.

I bumped into this website. Lets you filter by country, opensource, freemium, paid,…

Makes the whole digital cleanup a lot easier.

Update 2: eventually I decided to just go with it and install MX instead as a final attempt(because I just happened to have that on a stick on my desk) and it worked. I have a functional machine again. Thx for all the input guys!

Update: reinstalling fedora, it’s extremely slow and it’s going beyond 100%. I fkd up didn’t I?

Another case of "normie wants to ditch W11 for Linux and got backed into a corner".

I have used Linux for a while about 20 years ago, however installing it on a modern machine is new to me.

Timeline/Data:

-Recent Dell XPS laptop

-Decrypted the SSD in W11 through shell

-Booted Fedora 42 from a usb (everything works, yay!)

-Installed on the entire disc (as intended, byebye W11)

-Reboot=> Bios doesn't see the SSD anymore, a few reboots later I get a prompt to enter my "code" (not the typical bitlocker screen, I assume my Windows Pin?), before I even get the chance to select the damn prompt it's already gone. After which Bios reset itself to og settings (secure boot and whatnot)

-Bios still doesn't see the SSD.

-Fedora live does see the SSD.

What do I do now? Thx in advance!
