Their goal is to create phones with floating screens. At the point where quest 3 is, ignoring the weight and slightly janky hand controls I can see the vision and future technology could make that real, but I don't think its good for society. VR games also will never be mainstream since they require movement. I love VR gaming a lot, but 99% of people will try it once and never again. Its inherently niche. I've spent thousands of dollars on vr gear though so I don't really mind if all VR games are niche since I like the janky indie games.

Cpus have had integrated graphics for years... My 11 year old cpu has awful graphics that I try to turn off usually.

I think performance may vary depending on your setup. My experience is definitely not universal, but I've never experienced VR that works well on Linux yet. IMO you should keep trying and see if you can get it working, but if not Valve could fix VR on Linux when they finish the rumored Deckard headset.

Other people will know what bootloader you use, what apps you use, etc. Yeah I guess its not a huge concern, but its something.

There's syntax highlighting by default in vim though.

Also, on nixos you don't have to do that if you are lazy and can just install dependencies in your global config. Yeah its less optimal, but I'm too lazy to make flake files for each project.

Thats true, but you can still use it as a currency if you want to buy illegal drugs, or donations to organizations that accept it (with monero so its untraceable) and buying mullvad vpn. It's not stable, but its an accepted way of transferring money that can be as private as cash.

Yeah that seems about right, there hasn't been a new release since January of 2022. If you check the github, its still getting commits, but they aren't in an actual release yet.

You can install NixOS's package manager (called nix) to other linux distros and even MacOS, so you can kind of bring any nix skills to other os's.
