People like this deem themselves great drivers, and everyone around them can't drive. The officer should have taken his license instead.

This community is to find that game you can’t remember. Like it’s on the tip of your tongue.

Do you remember something about a game, but can't find the title? Do you want to finally know what it is? Post here and maybe someone can help.

Come to find your game, or help others find theirs!

We all play the same games most of the time. From the classic FPS grandfather's to the Point 'n Click adventures that never really got any traction past the 90s.

What are your favorite hidden gems? Games that few people know, but should know?

I'll start. Ascendency. A strategy space game where you pick an alien race, and try to take over, or befriend, the entire universe. Getting spaceships, going to planets, building bases and diplomacy. The time can be sped up, but do it at your own risk, because the AI does not wait.

To get some more activity on this community we are now allowing any game released on any windows version.

There are some simple rules:

  • Specify windows version in the title
  • if it's a game from before 2000, make sure to add [Retro] to the title.

Thanks for joining in and contributing!

Edit: I was reported for rule 2. Great stuff. Happy April Fools!

Left it to cook in the oven for hours. It was absolutely delicious!

This was when it just came out of the oven

There is currently a big influx of new users. Most, if not all, being reddit refugees.

I want to welcome you all to the fediverse, lemmy and retrolemmy specifically. If you need help starting out you can either try [email protected] or you can comment here, post in this community or message me or @[email protected] directly. We are here to help.

Some basic things:

Usernames are usually written out as @[email protected]. The @ in front indicates a user. It looks like an e-mail adress by design, Because there can be users with the same name on different instances. For example: @[email protected]

Communities are usually written out as [email protected] . The exclamation point indicates a community. This also looks like an e-mail address because there can also be communities with the same name on different instances.

Sometimes new communities will not load. This usually means that the community is not yet federated. You can either manually add it to lemmy-federate or you can subscribe. That way the community is federated and posts will show up. If you make a new community it is always good practice to add it to Lemmy federate. To make sure it's federated to all participating instances and maximize your user spread.

Here is a good FAQ via Lemm.ee.

Some good resources for finding communities:

https://lemmyverse.net/ - A website dedicated to finding new communities. Be sure to set your home instance using the domain name: for example: "retrolemmy.com". This is to make sure that if you click a community, it automatically links it through your instance.

https://lemmy-federate.com/ - a website to post communities so that servers' bots automatically subscribe to it, and it will show up in /all on all participating instances.

[email protected] - a community dedicated to promoting new communities.
[email protected] - same as above.
[email protected] - same as above.
[email protected] - lemmy apps community

Apps

There are loads of apps for your phone on the stores. Many of them were refitted from reddit apps to Lemmy. Here's a big megathread with all kinds of apps via lemmy.world
Or you can go to https://lemmyapps.netlify.app/ to find one not in the megathread

We hope you have a good time here!

As a metal head, it was always fun seeing other bars and clubs in the middle of the night having police and fights outside, while our dainty little metal bar only had that when those people came to our place.

Some people even came for the lack of fights, even if they didn't like the music. Always a brotherly atmosphere welcoming to all strangers.

Oh this hurts physically. So much frustration when soldering with the small wires. So much wasted solder to save your fingers from burning.

Thanks. I hate it.

I don't click piped links myself, but some people find them useful.

As for tldr bot, it's useful insofar it gets an idea across for wether I want to read the article, but leaves out a lot of information, often vital to the story, and leaves in fluff.

They aren't perfect, but useful for some.

The feature my company uses is the future of the field I work in. Not saying they are wrong, just that it's not really news that they have that opinion.

I thought it was coincidental that behind the Bastards was covering this subject in the show this week, then I saw the author. It's Robert Evans, the host. I guess if you want more information for this, listen to this week's podcast of behind the Bastards, I guess.

If only we had some sort of technology to let us know that someone is at the door.

Ring the doorbell, or knock like a normal fucking person.

I find the original ASCII emoticons have more character than the yellow bastards our phones keep suggesting to us.

I think a problem is that people are compelled to vote on every catagory to get that sweet, sweet useless gift. Making them vote for the only name they have played and/or heard of in every catagory.

If food is as much of a time sink as sleep you either sleep too little, or eat way too much

I love the stock image of an ethernet cable with only phone capabilities having continuity. Good choice from whoever made that decision.

Get yourself a microSD to Ms pro duo card, and hack the shit out of it!

Also official batteries aren't made anymore as far as I know, so just find yourself a battery from a reputable source. Mind your model number if you do.
