There's no way that they should be allowed to advertise "no ads" when there are in fact ads. This is consumer protection so basic and obvious that it should be a slam dunk even with the current government... right?

I don't understand why you seem to think that this is a bad thing. Scorcese is a top ten of all time in his field - if every director who wasn't as good as he is just gave up then we wouldn't have any directors.

He's actually just wrong. Nolan has a lot of action scenes in a lot of his movies, and while some of them do suck most of them are actually pretty great.

The fact that Nolan puts in the effort to try to elevate his films above being popcorn slop is often what makes them stand out even if they sometimes fall short in other ways. If every director just painted by numbers then every movie would be a Marvel movie.

There's a studied effect on pro athletes where getting paid to play makes them lose their love of the game, and I think it's something like that. Anecdotally I used to love acting but I didn't even last a year in the theatre industry before I burned out and haven't acted in a single thing since.

The first wave of Cuban immigrants to the US came immediately after the revolution, and it was mostly rich people. Castro was redistributing the land and the wealth, executing former police torturers, and going after crime lords who had been safe under the Batista regime, and every worm that could escape did so. These types were allowed into the US for their propaganda value because of course they wouldn't have any trouble going on TV and talking about how horrible communism was and crying about how their plantations were taken away from them by the government. That group of rich people and cops was already right wing by American standards when they came here, and set the tone for all Cuban migrants who came after.

Ironically enough, a great solution to this problem would be to bring in Chinese experts to train American workers. The USD still spends.

When it comes to presidential assassinations, there's really no replacing the efficacy of Marine Corps marksmanship training.

My last tech job gave me a Microsoft Surface, which possibly explains why I was hired with the promise that things would be really busy, barely did anything for a year, and then got let go because there just wasn't enough work to justify retaining my position.

They're not doing it on purpose. The people currently making these decisions do not understand the government, what it does, why it is powerful, where the money comes from, etc. It's like someone stripping the copper wiring out of their own house.
