The question would be, what else can they add?

Purely speculation on my part, but there’s three things I could see reasonably get added in a new version:

• Better processor (which will only matter for gaming, really)

• Built in Microphone for Siri smart home controls

• Tools for Vision Pro compatibility (such as the pop-up view like what it will do with the Mac)

• An entirely new, smaller/cheaper version built just for streaming

Do any of these features, or any others you imagine, make it worth waiting? And of course, none of these are guaranteed, though the first is probable, and there are rumors of the last one.

It’s a tough decision, but if you’re only going to use it for streaming, I’m not sure it’s worth waiting unless you’re sure the cheap one will come out.

The iPhone isn’t a question. Its roadmap up to the X was probably set by that point.

It’s the iPad and Mac evolutions that probably would’ve been very different, though the move to the M chips was probably the plan back then.

I used to use it a lot for cooking, but since Apple added the Dynamic Island on the iPhone which puts the timer visible without having to leave most apps, I’ve started using my iPhone for that more.

I do still use my Watch timer for naps at work, though. The vibrating alert is perfect without bothering others.
