That looks too much like a scam to be real. The "Protectors" look like they're retired or actors who play "Mafia Guy 2" and the business model makes no sense. If somebody is rich enough to need one of these hyperspecialised goons they can just tell their secretaries to hire some as part of their security, hopefully actually trained in urban security rather than sniping or explosives or low intensity warfare like half those big boys portray themselves. I know that'd be more trustworthy than the app given my first immediate thought was "how would one sabotage this?"

But either way, I'm still fond of any symptom that the spectre of Luigi is haunting the US. Hope these ghouls never forget that all it takes is a couple bullets, and the US is the country with the most guns per capita.

No, and they have nothing to gain from interfering in other countries. That'll sow distrust in minor nations that so far relied on them specifically due to their non-interference (compare it to the IMF), and invite destructive attacks from major countries and imperialist nations.

The most they should do is try to block reactionary interventions through institutional means like the UN security council, and retaliate only against those who attack them. Look to China as inspiration and an example, but do not wait for them to export revolution anytime soon.

I know international leftists love Lula, but for context the minimum wage increases every year since 1994, based on GDP growth and inflation (yes, even in the Bolsonaro years, though he fucked it up 2 times). So y'all shouldn't be surprised, this happens every year.

What is different now is that the Lula administration approved a set of fiscal austerity changes, one of which imposed a ceiling on the growth of the minimum wage to those 2.5%. Without that the actual value would be R$ 1.528, a small decrease but still a defeat for social policy.

So this is actually somewhat bad news, though I understand people from the US might be impressed by the concept of inflation-adjusted minimum wage.

Bolsonaro took Brazil out of the Chavez-founded UNASUR in order to join the US-aligned PROSUR (which excludes Venezuela and Bolivia) as soon as he went into office.

Brazil at 83% is only possible if the poll was conducted on a football match day on a Friday.

Don't have much to add, and I don't want to sound like "just take a walk bro" but I was going through some similar stuff a while back, and what worked for me was the following. Obviously, medical help is always best.

First I carefully and deliberately dropped all the meds my leech of a shrink put me on based on a horrible misdiagnosis. Obviously don't do this without a lot of care and consideration, but it was an important bit of the journey because both being on chemicals and dropping them clearly affected my brain.

Then I spent a whole lot of time walking around in my city trying to understand it first hand. Y'know, finding spots where homeless people are safer, where to forage food, places where actual nature still exist and where it has either been destroyed or turned into those sterile settler grasslands. I'm not from around here, but I don't think people from car-heavy settler cities ever truly know their city on a deep level.

This helped both build some love for the region but also hatred for the impacts of the societal organisations. Parallel to that I researched a lot about how to safely and reliably kill myself (not as an immediate desire, bit for curiousity), and noticed it'd be incredibly expensive.

But honestly, the part that really helped along with all of that was the people. Due to neurospicyness I don't really enjoy friendships so this is not some mushy "love gives life purpspose" thing, but actively throwing myself at the problems of people around me really made life make some sense.

I guess since I already decided my life had no worth to myself, it can at least serve as a tool to help other people who actually enjoy living have some worthwhile ones. This obviously isn't the only or best way to this, but thought I should share.

Hope you find a way that works for you somehow.

Oh...right...Election is coming up.

In 15 months... The Yankee election cycle is some 500 times the size of the actual election date.

Turns out if you define a third of your pale population as "Latinx" instead of white, very few white people remain.

Even the 2020 census had the sense (heh) to finally drop the "Hispanic race" and have it as a separate label, but the "researchers" felt like going out of their way to redefine it as a "race" again. Not sure why race is even treated as a scientific thing to begin with in their census, but such is the Amerikkkan way I guess.

Edit: don't even want to think about the causes of this "age gap"

listening to slow "folk" music usually is a good language learning tool, and Cuba Libre by Carlos Puebla is a very easy to understand album. Mira Yanki como nos reimos is also a good meme source.

Edit: I also recently discovered Por qué No Se Van which is also really cool, but it is from Chile so their slightly different pronunciation might trip some folks.

Of course, it still has a lot of the tired tropes of Yankee movies, Big Shooty Protagonist, Male/Female Leads falling in love at the first eye contact, random sex scenes to keep viewers awake, Robin Hood saves the day by himself, Cillian Murphy being anti-social in a leather trench-coat.

But it's been a long time since I've seen a Yankee-ish movie (the director is Kiwi) that actually puts an effort to make a movie be about critiquing capitalism, without some plot twist where the people wanting change secretly eat babies. The time metaphor is so one to one that it becomes corny after a while, and I enjoyed every pun. The title in Portuguese is also better than the original, loosely translating to "The Cost of Tomorrow."

Ironically the editing is very straight to the point with barely any filler and the budget looked very efficiently allocated, as if it valued your time (sorry). Wholeheartedly recommend.

A sad day, but also a moment to be grateful for all his work. Ever since I've learned how to use Vim I have never looked back, electron-based editors be damned.

Don't threaten me with a good time. It's obviously just dumb scaremongering, but Trump is known to flip on policy on a whim so maybe 🥺

It'll even feature VS Code extensions so you can debug your copilot bugs you don't understand by posting generated prompts on Stack Overflow.

The video demonstration is also pretty funny, apparently CEOs think programmers don't know how to use search engines.

Get a load of this guy. Apparently, putting forward "beliefs and ideology" are against their code of conduct.

His comment about blocking lemmygrad don't seem that bad to me, it's getting a bit annoying seeing lost dotworlders thinking they're the first one to ever say "communism bad."

[-] [email protected] 15 points 2 years ago

That's around a full fifth of the population hot damn! I hope with the current surge in LatAm/China cooperation and the USA hurting itself in confusion the sanctions eventually become irrelevant.

[-] [email protected] 16 points 2 years ago

But have you considered clapping to the dentists while further privatising the NHS? That'll surely help!

[-] [email protected] 16 points 2 years ago

And don't forget the millions with negative net worths.

I think we should be really careful with this kind of comment. Assuming things from the body language of an autistic teen in an official picture with old government officials, even if they're a counterproductive lib, is really not fine IMO. There's plenty to criticise about her and her actions without going there.
