My eyelid has been twitching every 10 mins for the past 3 days. It's getting quite annoying.

Besides punching my eyeball what else could I do?

Try eating a banana, the potassium helps control muscle contractions.

Yep, also if you want temporary relief you can try a warm compress on the eye. I imagine it helps relax the muscles a bit and let the eye rest (and even if it doesn't work, a warm compress can feel nice)

"What are you doing?"

"I'm kicking my ass. Do ya mind?!"

Hey don't get any ideas. I just can't lie and I'm a lawyer. I'm trying to get the trial postponed.

I'm not sure if you're referencing Fight Club or suggesting this quote from Liar-Liar violates the "no violence" rule on the site.

If you’re desperate enough to ask for home remedies on the internet, then you’re desperate enough to see an actual doctor. This issue might be more complicated than it seems.

I've cheated death far too many times to go out by something like Eye-Twitch Disease.

I'll die in an exciting and glorious way like an exploding fireball off a cliff.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Eye twitches are a little-known symptom of Explodingfireballoffacliffitis.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I've also heard that the symptom is prevalent in those who suffer from Glutiusmaximusinyourbutticusitis

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

That’s the worst

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

You never know. ETD is a common cause of death for desert dwellers with glowing eyes.

You don’t make a living by collecting scrap metal by any chance do you?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

This. There’s a new disease going around. You feel perfectly fine except for your eye twitching, and then bam! you die.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Be careful -- have a doctor do it.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

Make sure the doctor uses a left hook. Hitting with a right hook can cause permanent damage

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago

Happens to me sometimes from greater than normal amounts of stress. Goes away after 3-4 days.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago

Eat a banana and drink some water and stop taking so many stimulants and get some rest.

Do you take any meds? I swear I've heard of this as a side effect before. Unless I'm just remembering some old I Love Lucy episode or something.... Are you Lucy?

I see a lot of people suggesting potassium, and that's what I usually do, but for a while now, it turns out that I needed magnesium (helps relax the muscles). I'm not a doctor, so definitely check with a professional, but having some nuts like walnuts might be a good idea.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Many people go straight to recommending potassium, but magnesium is key for helping muscle contractions. Fortunately bananas are also rich in magnesium as well as potassium, so they may be helpful for more than one reason.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

That's a great advice!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Happened to me often. Drink more water and eat potassium filled foods like bananas

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

If you don't like bananas, potatoes have a lot more potassium by both weight and calories

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

And they're less radioactive

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

And they’re fucking delicious

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

Justif-eye-able? yes.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

imo, it's probably a lack in magnesium.

when I get those, I just sleep it off. Just tired muscles in my experience.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

Try to get some rest? Take a good multivitamin? Either of these things seems considerably more reasonable than punching yourself in the eye

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Stress and lack of sleep will make your eye twitchy. Drink some chamomile tea and eat a chocolate cookie.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

My eye isn’t twitching, but I’m still going to take your advice.

I wish....no I don't. I'm a former meth addict and haven't done anything stronger than coffee in many moons. But even coffee doesn't affect me.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Are you still drinking coffee? Congrats for getting off the meth btw.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Happened to me for a while, idk why. Took a few weeks to go away. The human body is weird

I heard some doctors prefer a 1-2 combination!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

Take some potassium supplements.

Twitchy muscles are a sign of low potassium.

Potatoes are a better source than bananas, by the way.

Also, trust your food cravings. I bet if you look up the nutrition info on whatever food you’ve been craving during this time, you’ll find it’s high in potassium.

Do something that slows your heart rate, like showering or breathing exercises.

Active psychosis

Americans would do anything before going to a doctor.

Edit: are you from UK? Don't you have universal Healthcare or something? Go to a doctor, that could be a symptom for something else.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

are you from UK? Don’t you have universal Healthcare or something?

Yes, but I prefer the ancient art of "pissing and moaning". :) Oh and I don't think any GPs doing appointments on Xmas/Boxing day.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

For real go to a doctor. That could be a symptom for s neurological problem.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

Tends to happen when it's unaffordable to do so for anything non life threatening

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

My left eye has been twitching off and on for more than a week now. I definitely have not enough sleep and too much stress (buying a house is so much fun )

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Just wait a week, no need to punch yourself

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I'm guessing the person who downvoted you wants a photo of my blackeye. 😂
