Calm down guy. I was just having fun.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago

To be fair, the fact that Canada can't leave the EU was in the name.

Well yeah, they Can'tada join us.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Do you know where Canada is?

I mean, it does own 100 hectares in France at the Vimy Monument, but that's not enough to be considered for EU membership.

I like how this list is implicitly aware that Germany is the lynchpin of the EU

Sadly we too already have a name for the Dutch (Netherlands) exit. The nexit.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

At least they borrowed something from English for it, showing that being international isn't all that bad :D

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

Yeah Nethermind in this list is funny but never gonna make it for every day use.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 10 months ago (1 children)

For Austria it's actually ÖXIT and sadly enough it's a thing.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

And DEXIT for Germany. I really hate AfD.

We've already decided on Svejsan if Sweden would ever try to leave. It doesn't translate well, but that's part of the spirit I guess.

Adieu doesn't make sense in French. It's called Union Européenne.

People will use Frexit. The name speak for itself and whom is behind this ideology.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago (2 children)

The meme is very obviously made for English speakers. I'm not sure how you're taking it this seriously

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

Bruh this is Lemmy. I dunno if you've noticed but EVERY meme post and joke post is filled with comments like this of people taking the joke completely seriously and getting whiny over it. Starting to just get pathetic.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

Because this is lemmy. "Ackshually..." is this places motto.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

Adiue then?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Any other country seriously considering leaving the EU?

I thought brexit was this titanic success of hindenburg-esque proportions and about as popular as a fart in a lift.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

It's up to the people as always. Even the previous right wing government of Poland has rhetoric of leaving EU is which ignored by the population. Overwhelming number of Poles support to remain in the EU. Actually trying to materialise leaving the EU is unthinkable for most Europeans despite what these Euroskeptic individuals would want.

The only reason UK elected to leave was because they think they still have an colonies to trade with and can be self-sustainable.

The frontrunner of the Dutch elections (not yet the president as he's not succeeded in forming a parliament yet) is pro Nexit.

But he's said that he's not going to because we can trust him that his extreme views are set aside for now...

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Prime Minister. The Netherlands does not have a president.

Don't think (hope) he will be able to execute his Nexit ambitions, but they will take steps in the wrong direction for sure.
