The free market has spoken. There just isn't enough demand for rice grains in the rice crispies. It's simple economics.

Super ka duper mega, to the max El nino will affect grain throughout the world. I'm assuming that's what's happening.
A spokeswoman for Kellogg’s said: “We have updated the Rice Krispies and Coco Pops recipes, which are now made using corn flour and rice flour.
“This recent change helps us maintain consistent quality at a time when changing weather conditions are affecting the quality and availability of some of the rice and grains used in our cereals.
“We appreciate that even small changes to a much-loved product can feel noticeable and that’s why we have approached this with a lot of care and consideration.
How about address climate mitigation with pollution-belching factories and logistics?! 🤯
An entire whole half of the world eats rice in large quantities. I don't believe this bullshit about "weather conditions". This is just ol' fashioned enshittification, using some excuse to justify it.
You should believe it. Between global warming, overworked soil, deforestation, drought, water waste, water pollution, and lack of fertilizer, we better do something yesteryear. Today is the next best time.
Because that's the job of government, not business.
Holupaminit, I thought this was a figure of speech! They meant "changing weather conditions" literally, as in, the rice grains don't work for them as an ingredient any more due to poor quality? WTF?!
They replaced it with another natural ingredient that fills even more, and that ingredient is wood.
Uh, so what are they now, just sugar and vitamins?

They’re taking rice flour not whole grain rice and apparently aren’t gluten free anymore
But like, rice crispy bars were the one sweet "baked" good that anyone could make for gluten free needs...
Uhhh rice crispies have never been gluten free tough? The malt flavor is derived from barley and contains gluten.
Shit, did my mam lie to me all these years, lolol
You would think with something like rice they would have a warning that it may contain gluten, people assume too much. But that’s also why stuff is labeled as gluten free if it is and designed so.
If they’re anything like my parents, they just choose to accept what they want and don’t want to be corrected -.-
I don't know if the article is true, but the article did mention there was a warning on the package.
It’s not listed on the package I have, Canada usually has better labeling too, but the article says “may contain” because it’s produced in factories that produce gluten, they don’t even talk about the malt flavoring having gluten.
Edit, interestingly, the Rice Krispies treat bar lists “barley malt extract” and specifies it contains barley.
Oh boy, gluten in another thing I occasionally eat. Fuck yourself, Kelloggs.
They've never been gluten-free, tho.
Previously, Rice Krispies and Coco Pops were labelled “may contain gluten” because they were made in a factory where other cereals containing gluten were also handled.
“It’s the economy, you see? It’s not our fault we have to cut the milk with chalk water again.”
So are they going to just call them "Krispies" now?
