Jenson Huang of nvidia is in that pic but he is happy to pay the proposed billionaire tax.

You can try to buy all the pitchfork, torches, and rope, but there will always be more.
Why spend anything at all? Gruesome has already pledged to protect the oligarchs.
I hope the ultra-rich lose everything. I hope they weep.
Man, I don't know. I'm starting to think that unlimited campaign funds could possibly result in billionaires having more influence in politics than anything else, and that this might lead to legislation in their favor somewhat perhaps.
If only there was some way to prove this! but I guess it will always be a mystery.
The whole point of being wealthy in the US is there are no rules. Regular citizens will defend this because they believe they will get to enjoy this when they become wealthy. Taxing wealth is clearly breaking this unspoken rule.
Not just the US. I believe capitalism achieved that almost everywhere. People thrive on the idea of suddenly being rich and//or believe themselves to be rich because they have more than someone else they can look down on.
In Germany the leading politicians often fuel this too. When they talk about equality they talk about making those that earn much give more to support those that earn far less or nothing. In the grand scheme of things, even the high earners are poor. The rich people don’t have to earn anything it all. But that is never mentioned (by said politicians).
They (“up there”) basically managed to instigate a class struggle between workers.
Things are never going to get better if this type of shit isn't made illegal. That rich guy cash is like sprinkling poison fish flakes into the melting pot.
These men would gladly pour their money down the drain than let it be used for the good of society. Sociopaths.
Yes, because the inequality gap gives them huge gobs of power. The chasm is so great that, to us peseants, it looks wasteful. Paying additional taxes is a double negative to them; it would reduce their “wealth” leverage, while theoretically improving our quality of life. How does one protect their generational hoard without the inequality that exists today?
Their incredible wealth also provides the epistemic privilege and validation to what many of us can only assume. This only furthers the need to hoard.
John Randolph of Roanoke "I am an aristocrat. I love liberty, I hate equality."
Georg Büchner: "The breath of an aristocrat is the death rattle of freedom."
The more they want to fight it, the more we know we need it
See that’s the thing.
I was indifferent from the sake that I am too tired to do the research on what exactly is written to have an informed opinion.
Then I saw how much the billionaires are fighting it.
Shit if they were just indifferent and stayed out of it I wouldn’t vote one way or the other.
Now me my parents and my partner are all voting for it.
Good job asshats.
I wonder if it will cost them more trying to defeat the tax, than if they just paid the tax.
They'd probably be okay with that anyway. They probably enjoy paying more just to watch poor people squirm.
Dumb worthless fucks would be better off just paying.
Or fucking off to Mars and never returning. (Hey I'd include all the air they can carry in that rocket!)
It's a one-time tax of 5%, FFS.
You could make it something paid every year, or a one-time tax of 50% and they would still never miss a meal, never not have a roof over their head, never have to skip out on buying stuff like yachts and private jets and have lavish vacations, etc.
This is just about how much the idea of them contributing to the society that has given them so much offends them. This is the class that prides themselves on finding ways to pay the very least amount of tax possible, even though they won't miss it at all.
It's a sickness.
The tax would collect from 30 to 100 billion so they are only spending whatever they found under the couch to fight it
It must suck to have so much money that one must feel the need to pay so much money instead of paying slightly more money in taxes... how are they even surviving, poor things.
It's not even like they have to pay this annually. It's a one time tax. Pathetic.
At first I thought that was a pic of that weirdo Curtis Yarvin.
I bet it's more than they'd spend on a wealth tax.
