That exclusions list looks like you can't eat anything. What can you eat? Eat a little more of whatever that is, and lift heavy. Bodies are pretty good at figuring out how to use what you eat.

Sounds like a standard vegan diet without potatoes and some fruits? What's the issue? Just eat a rich protein vegan diet. Soy, beans, lentils, vegetables, rice, ...

What's the starting point and end goal? Because "bulk up a bit" can be eat more calories and exercise for a month, and then lose it, or a radical long term change.

Bulk up by how much. Are you underweight? Do you just want to tone your muscles? Whats going on here.

I wamt to gain as much fat in as little as much time as possible. Ibe always been underweight except for last year when I FINALLY started gaining weight for once in my life.

I can clearly tone down with ease when I choose to seeing as how my body is practically allergic to weight gain. πŸ˜‘

Oh. If it's fat you want not muscle, then candy, chocolate, fast food, anything calorie dense. If it's muscle you want, see my other comment somewhere in the thread.

so by starch you mean carbs. like is fiber fine. also zero in those other things because most whole non animal foods are going to have some fo almost everything.

Sorry. I forgot to add that fiber in all its forms is fine.

yeah you have to accept some carbs and such to though. even beans have some starches and a miniscule but non zero amount of sugars.

Well the sugars in beans are typically not fructose and most beans thatt do have sugars in them tend tonot have a lot of it.

Also you suggest beans? Do you know of any beans that have no starch in them? (othrr than soybeans)

So im not even sure soybeans have zero. The thing with beans is fiber and protein is by far the largest component. So net carbs and blood sugar spikes and such should not be an issue. whole grains have more starch but again the fiber vs starch thing they are favorable with many. If you really need close to zero starch. like less than 1%. then seeds and leafy greens I think are basically what you are stuck with but the greens won't exactly bulk you up and im not sure how many seeds you could eat. Most seeds are basically fiber, protein, and fat. Some nuts to. Like hazelnuts. Again though absolutely zero starch is going to be virtually impossible unless you just eat processed stuff that removes it.

When you say meat do you mean any animal flesh product?

Okay, in that case I would look into the vegan meat substitutes. They're typically relatively high in calories and would be an excellent addition to getting your calorie count over what you need.

Supplement that with some Pea protein, and also make sure to take creatine, as creatine will cause you to absorb a couple of pounds of water weight.

If you are exercising and the point is to add muscle, that extra water weight will raise your NEAT just a hair, a few calories a day, but if the goal is to put on muscle, a little bit of extra expenditure is not a bad thing.

As in something like impossible burger?

Yeah, the impossible burgers are good ones, but there's also a lot of vegan chicken alternatives.

Generally, if you go to the grocery store and look through their vegan section, you'll find things like that.

For an ultra processed fast food, yes.

I mean, yes, of course it's ultra processed. It's vegetables being tricked to have the consistency of not vegetables.

But the question wasn't, "How can I eat the healthiest calories on the planet?"

Ya the 'healthiness' of the diet is completely irrelevant. I take a bunch of supplements and multivitamins so micro nutrients have nver been a concern for me.

Jesus. You Americans (or your nationality of choice) are crazy.

    1. If your food requires you to take a bunch of those, either:
    • you are ill, and in need of professional help

    • it is not food fit for human consumption.

    1. Assuming first, you gaining weight might be hard, so if you have chronic health issues you should've mentioned that. Hormone issues can literally prevent "bulking up".

    2. Assuming second option, to bulk up you need proteins and calories surplus and exercise. You can eat anything that meets your other criterions as long as you make sure of that, even paper or tree bark with coconut oil.

    3. Soy is the best plant based protein source - highest DIAAS score. When you prepare it correctly (protein combining, predigestion) it goes up to 0.9, which is 2/3 of a chicken. Impossible meat has DIAAS score of 0.86.

This is the tricky part about vegan diet compared to omnivore diet - plants have lower bioavailability than meat. You need to aim into eating more proteins per kilogram, ideally 2.5g per kg of target weight (vs 1.6 - 2.0 on omnivore diet).

So if your target weight is 180 pounds/80kg thats about 200 gram per day of proteins. That is quite a lot, so likely you'll have to eat 5 dishes a day, each with about 40g of proteins.

That is massive amount of food, a lot of fiber, you might get bloated or constipated, so soy/pea protein isolate powder might be something you want to look into (to help you meet the protein threshold, not to be your main source of protein) - and if you're gonna incorporate it into your long term diet, you need to rotate brands and protein powder sources (rice, pea, soy, blends, etc etc).

Soybeans mixed with boiled starch-free rice swimming in glucose gel. That is protein and the most basic of sugars. The "starch-free" rice probably isn't 100% starch free, but it's close. If you can tolerate it, the carbs would be useful.

You probably would need a few dozen multivitamin pills for dessert though. Crushing them up and adding it to the soy and sugar probably would taste kinda bad.

Still, I don't think that would be balanced enough to convince your body it wasn't starving so bulking up probably isn't going to come easy or safely.

You need protein with additional variety, and I think my concoction would probably push you over the edge into protein poisoning with a massive sugar imbalance to boot.

I started off lightly joking at first, but if you crank up the soy in your diet along with simple sugars, you can probably just add that to whatever else you can eat and be OK. Unless, of course, you have a soy allergy as well.

(Sounds like you have some serious gut issues and are incapable of breaking down most proteins and more complex sugars. I am not sure if the soy will help much or if you can get all the amino acids you need if there is a protein digestive issue going on.)

well I can eat meat I just cant eat starches, fructose or dairy proteins at all.

Also you said a massive sugar imbalance? What is that please?

I just want to see if I can try a vegan diet while bulking. Im pretty sure with hpw shitty my genetics are its impossible.
