And the reason for this is that these same people voted for anti abortion republicans who passed strict abortion laws.

Then the doctors all left, because they didn't want to have to sit and watch their patients die from complications during pregnancy.

This was a self inflicted wound.

This long predates the reversal of Roe v. Wade

The fundamental issue is America's crumbling healthcare, which is a result of the private healthcare system

The single most impactful event that led to this was the gutting of the ACA in 2008

This happens even in states that have enshrined abortion in their constitution, like Montana. Where I lived in Montana we had to drive 2.5 hours one way for the nearest maternity center. It may absolutely be the case that abortion bans are causing these maternity centers to close in many areas, but where I lived it was happening because the rising costs of Healthcare, and the costs to entice doctors to "the frontier", were too high for keeping the local (and quite poor) population safe and healthy

This is the law that protected access to abortion

Bullshit. It was only legal as of 2025. Before then the republican were harassing the doctors into leaving. A they have been trying to overturn the amendment from the day it was passed. Nobody is going to hang around during that kind of harassment.

Maternity wards are closing left and right. Two hospitals near me just closed theirs within a month of one another.

Imagine how hard it is for the 12 year old girls to drive a long way to get their father’s baby removed. I guess they’re out of luck in amerika

Since learning of the closure, Freeman and her husband have spent hours together at his desk, using his three computer monitors to map out driving routes across upstate New York.

THREE MONITORS!? Wow. That must be some serious route mapping if they are using three monitors. /s

Was watching the episode of House where a 12 year old gets pregnant, and they have to abort to save her. Apparently this was 'normalizing abortion' to a magat listener in the room. These people are well beyond the curve on this. No doctor in his right might would be able to serve these people if he wanted too. This is how they get away with hurting people they don't agree with without putting a gun to their head. Take away things they need until they can only have it your way.

With the way the rural population votes in the US, the less they procreate, the better.
