Welcome again to everybody. Make yourselves at home. In the time-honoured tradition of our group, here is the weekly discussion thread!

P.S. Update on those stability improvements/enhancements I mentioned in my previous weekly thread: they're finished. The matrix server uptime is now better. Suspiciously better, some might say. Anyway, enjoy the reliability >:3

Crazy week this week.

To make the context as short as possible, I was unable to continue my Master in AI/data. I never really liked it anyway so it's not a big deal, except when it comes to money obviously.
After that I decided to do a different Master (cuz it's practically mandatory to get a somewhat well paid job).

On Monday I had no information on my application. Then on Tuesday afternoon I was told I was good to go but since school started Monday I had to be there Wednesday morning.
Now I'm in a weird limbo state where for some services I am a proper student but others haven't catch up yet. For example I have to prove that I went to school this afternoon but the application for that doesn't recognize me yet.

Tomorrow it's my first proper day of school this year and because I missed the first two it's gonna be artistic.

I don't know if I'm making any sense, English is still not my main language, the French school/grade system doesn't neatly match any other and I'm also pretty sleepy.
But hey, I wanted to talk about it somewhere.

I'm getting tired of seeing posts like "haha no more Russian bots now" on Reddit.

One strong espresso and I can't listen to anything but Nile.

I really should just switch to decaf at this point.

It's to the point where my internal thought process is so accelerated that I can't even start the thing I wanted to do (which is why I had the coffee in the first place).

The Congo to Cuba playlist by Putumayo has saved me from spiraling into a breakdown countless of times. Long live the Congolese and Cuban people.

Taking medical leave from college to focus on getting better mental health wise.

On a related note, anyone have experiences with IOP (intensive out patient) programs? Being reccomended one to help get skills to properly function, but I'm anxious that it will be a waste of my time.

there is not any word in the english language that can capture just how horrifying the control of the capitalist powers over the internet is. (well internet is small part of the indoctrination and control of historiography, but the internet... in the time i was gone i've been observing my irl friend's internet feed and remembered as far as they think, this is all pure, clean and dandy. and i kept seeing the ciaslop everywhere) apart from that, witnessing anglosphere internet even secondhand reminded me why i find everyone there so fucking ANNOYING!! their trite """""""""politics"""""""""" of flab and vapor invariably end up anti-communist, ESPECIALLY their ideas of 'anti-capitalism' that end in silly little discussions of authoritarianism, did you know stalin was as bad as hitler, maybe worse?!

realizing that, at least i know i should focus on being able to have a real understanding of theory, where i know it so well that i can say it in such nice undeniable chunks for everyone, and then i can really help them pull at the strings about current events. only then could i actually start challenging the basics of historical knowledge, those that if you question them they'll start biting your leg. it's odd, actually, because i just wrote that paragraph out and i suddenly felt a burgeoning feeling of happiness and contentment. it's something i can do :)

I came across this recent YT video of an anarchist trying to roast On Authority by Engels. I really want to watch it to see how bad it is but when I tried I couldn't get past the dude's smug attitude.

How do you stop obsessing with someone you're not dating? I met this guy but I don't know if it's ever going to go anywhere. He's away on a long holiday as well so I can't meet up with him to find out

Yes. Good chance it could develop into something, but just don't want to get my hopes up and focus all my energy on one guy when we're not dating yet and I have to wait until he gets back

It was not long ago when Irish and Italians were not considered white as well. But it's interesting to see all people who consider themselves white in South America become "latinos" as soon as they step in global north countries.

There's this one coworker I work with often and he watches reels during breaks. I have witnessed this man's reels going from far right conspiracy lunacy to now the occasional communist influencer and I wonder if my algorithm is infiltrating his, and winning.

Finance capital has created the epoch of monopolies, and monopolies introduce everywhere monopolist principles: the utilisation of “connections” for profitable transactions takes the place of competition on the open market. The most usual thing is to stipulate that part of the loan granted shall be spent on purchases in the creditor country, particularly on orders for war materials, or for ships, etc.

in my little pea brain i went "this sound like the IMF or those other guys" (no shit) and i think it's just cuz it will always surprise me that these bald guys can be so right all the time like everyone knows they're so right all the time but it just blows my little pea brain away. that's what he meant.... Yup uhhuhh he's so smart mr lenin thanks mr lenin gosh golly his insights are so clear and true woah....

Have you tried leaving your annotations in the margins of the book? If you read some of Lenin's notes on Hegel, his notes are pretty similar to yours ("this sounds like the IMF" etc.). Reading a book like it's a dialogue is pretty good.

might be just fake stuff i read on social media but i remember someone talking about how stalin was so frequently writing in his margins and they would be any old thought he had ("rubbish", apparently underlining typos, "haha", and i mean. well. obviously actual analysis/synthesis of ideas) so yeah maybe that'll help me

been extremely busy and drained with so many things

today was the first day i could sort of go back to small steps improvement of political education. for me, it's always been so hard absorbing theory, and today i finally let go of the shame and looked for like, really simple threads and succinct if of course oversimplified definitions on r/tankiethedeprogram about specific concepts like imperialism and capital export. and it feels good, because i realized maybe i did actually get it! maybe i'm not as hopeless as i thought i was. it sounds silly, but it made me think of the i think compulsory diamat class in prc. i think most kids there aren't grateful for it, but i'd kind of kill for a simplified, easily accessible theory blurter or something. even a gamified app sort of . idk. hi it's been a while

actually here's the silly thing. i don't know how to gauge what i don't know except for, you know, talking to people versed in theory! and this webbed site is the only place i can do it.
