Stop living in the past and live now. Everything becomes a memory.

I don’t really have an issue with that, a little nostalgia is ok. The stuff that does bug me is friendships that have disappeared. Whether just by distance and time or because the people in it have changed so much that you can’t really relate well anymore.
Enjoy the moment for what it is, not worrying about if you'll be able to do this later in life. You'll have plenty of rewarding experiences later in life they'll just be different experiences because your priorities change and what you find enjoyable changes.
That moment where you don't even have memories of the good times anymore.
I love it when that happens, because it's like I got my wish - here I am living it.
currently at my cubicle preparing a presentation, wishing this moment will once forget
This picture triggers something inside me. I am glad you posted it not on a Friday or Saturday and the mild summer evenings and nights full of atmosphere are gone for this year, otherwise it would hit harder.
That’s a dope wood carving of a turtle
Everything you do is carved into that exact time and location in the universe, nothing can change it or take it away, yet it leaves all the same.
Some people call that mindfulness and pay professionals to achieve that state. Others, like me, consider it hell to be constantly aware of this without the ability to turn it off.
The view out that window could be any number of European cities.
I'm guessing Madrid
looks a lot like Paris.
Isn't that the point of life, to collect fond memories?
Feels that way, till you get older and if your like me you realize maybe it's not because when i talk with friends about stuff 20-30 years ago I am sad that I either don't remember some stuff, or don't remember the event at all and it kills me. Without memories what did it matter? Don't get me wrong I still remember a lot, but its definitely creeping in now that I probably will only get worse going forward.
If it's a memory you wish you could relive.... Why don't you just live it while you have the chance?
Responsibilities.
They're tough to avoid without living a lower quality of life. They come at you fast and consistently somewhere between age 15 and 35, depending on how much money your parents are able and willing to share with you.
You missed the point completely. Their comment wasn't about not being able to make the memories, but about when you already are in the moment, you should not be thinking about how in the future you'll wistfully look back on this moment, but rather, just enjoy the moment.
I don't know about you, but I view the acknowledgement that this moment will be a core memory for me moving forward to be one of the highest forms of enjoyment I can have. You can have that thought while simultaneously participating in the moment itself - it's not an either/or thing.
Make friends with childfree people, keep having good times with friends forever.
Maybe I'm mentally ill but I don't look fondly back upon my youth hanging out with people. I also feel like life was miserable until I was 35 because that's when I kind of broke free of shitty old habits and thinking and starting making decent money.
I think about it and I regret it. Wish I had been doing more interesting/productive stuff with my time other than getting high/drunk and dicking around. But sadly the option didn't really exist where I grew up, so you had to fill the void.
I also don't get the sentiment of people who like wish they could go back to being a teenager or child. But I like being an adult.
Sure you had the right kind of people around you back then?
I like the saying "time that is enjoyed wasting isn't wasted", but it sounds like it wasn't enjoyable to you back then..
There were no better people to be around.
We don't get to pick our parents or where we grow up. I'm just grateful I was smart and driven enough to get out of there and I didn't make stupid choices that would have made my life miserable as theirs were.
I know that experience. I'm glad you got out.
