We are nearer to 2050 than 2000 and my joints remind me of the fact every time a front blows through.

I'm more upset about mentioning Soundgarden and 3 doors down in the same sentence.

In defense of 3 doors down, the superman song led to one of the greatest DBZ AMVs I had ever seen.

Edit: lmao, it's still up. data-laughing

They will never make me embarrassed about liking stuff from the 90's

After all, I still listen to bands that started in the 80's

Idk I'm a zoomer so it's cool to like old things. A lot of my favorite bands are 90s alt/slacker rock. Spending time on /mu/ and RYM as a teenager has had terrible consequences for my adulthood, now the only people I can talk to about music are hipster millennials

I'm either late genX or early millennial depending who you ask, my music collection runs from like 1982 right thru to 2026. Although I do have to go to a bit of intentional effort to maintain that. Not in a "greetings fellow kids" kind of way (at least I hope not), just in the way that it's good to know what young people are singing about and what's important to them.

This is under playing how much time has gone by. Generally when growing up classic rock channels would play songs from about 15 years ago. Eg songs from 1975 would get on the channel in 1990, so hearing Bohemian rhapsody on classic rock back then would make sense. What this means is songs from 2010 should be on those classic rock or classic hits channels now

Yep, And the OLDIES stations played songs from the 50s, like Frankie Valli, Chuck Berry, Elvis. The songs from the 90s would now be the oldies!

That raises a semantic question: do “oldies” and “classic rock” refer to a simple “current year minus X to minus Y range” categorization? Or is it referring to a specific cultural moment/context, e.g. the pre-psychedelia era of pop rock, and the standard-defining era of the late 60’s to early 80’s?

I usually don't reference this channel because there is a lot of reddit 2010s humor, but that was my favorite part of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=137Ei0C3Vdg

They are playing an RPG where you play as a middle aged loser trying to battle depression

player: As I drive home, I search the radio channels
    GM: make a roll
    player: 19
GM: The Smashing Pumpkins song you lost your virginity to is playing, reminding you of your more vital days, +2, make another roll
    player: ...5
GM: its on the oldies channel, -3
player: Oldies! But it has only been... 20 years, God Damn IT!

I love singing stuff from the 60-80's in karaoke, it's always fun to lure boomers and gen-x in and then hit them with a gay anthem after couple of songs

trump-anguish “The ponies, they used to be white. Glorious, pristine white. The most luxurious white you could imagine. But now? The ponies, they’re all pink. Every last pony in the clubs, pink. The ponies, they made them woke. No, it’s true. Very sad.”

You can beat this by listening to the Critic Shift album Overspace and Supertime which was released this year.

Just maybe don't look up the age of the members
