The only bad thing about all this is having to stare into his soulless eyes in all the pictures of him over the last 48 hours.

This is entirely a non-sequitur to his failings in standing aside for Zionist pressure.

Why does his hair suck? He's rich, yea? Is the shitty hair part of the "average man" brand? It always looks like a rowdy uncle just ruffled his hair.

He was more than happy to speak up for Ukraine a few years back, so saying he doesn't want to say anything or pick a side now over this is pretty damning. Really, after this statement, there's no going back. Fuck him.

“The suffering and pain caused on both sides is a human tragedy.”

…is exactly how not to comment on a conflict involving ethnic cleansing and possibly genocide.

But Ed already showed his true colors earlier, when he chose not to speak up about the US-Iran war, even though he’d just had a major hit with a Persian inspired song.

    Go fuck yourself, Ed Sheeran.

“I am not complicit. I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them, and it doesn’t mean I don’t care. Nor does it mean I don’t support causes in my own, personal way.

You don't care enough to speak publicly. Which makes you complicit.

However, there is room for multiple approaches to the same end: peace. I choose to use my fame and platform to be a place of safety and sanctuary

Sanctuary for who exactly? Reminds me of Letters from Birmingha by Dr. King .

"the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.”

Fuck Kraft for giving this ultimatum, Fuck the promoters for capitulating and fuck Ed Sheeran specifically for this both sides nonsense.

What the end goal here Ed? Hope Israel stops killing children and pray everyone forget you couldn't talk about it?

If you have to say "I am not complicit", then I automatically have a strong suspicion that you are complicit.

"Keep conversations opened" as he silently watches one side of the conversation get forcibly shut down by the other. Coward.

Yup. Imagine having the ability to be heard by so many and choosing to stay quiet.

One doesn't always need to listen to or agree with the opinions of artists, but an artist who doesn't share their opinions is creating product, not art.

Says "I am not complicit" then immediately demonstrates complicity. Words have meanings, you gaslighting asshole!

Scum. Supporting the erasure of defying a genocide does make you complicit. You have a platform and you had a choice and youve chosen to help censor someone elses. Complicit.

I was really trying to hold off on my opinion of him until he made a statement.

Welp, guess my initial feelings when they didn't make a joint statement or a statement the same day, still stands. Not wanting to get involved is all the statement I need. Fuck off Ed.

    Yikes.

He seems to not care about the conflict at all, blaming both sides briefly and then going on to say Macklemore's contract was with the promoters and not him and that venues were promising to cancel the show if he continued to support Palestine.

Ed Sheeran will be remembered as a villain here, the correct choice would have been to pull out from those venues and threaten not to do the tour if the promoters continued to push for dropping Macklemore.

“There is a reason I do not use my professional platform for politics – my audience includes young people, often children, of all backgrounds. Those who come to my shows do not expect a political forum. I respect Macklemore’s strength of purpose to stand up and shout for what he believes. However, there is room for multiple approaches to the same end: peace. I am shocked at how bad his statement is, I don't think he has a PR team. Or maybe they are intentionally trying to sabotage his reputation. This "explanation" is just ridiculous and insulting on so many levels. I can't believe he actually does "both sides" and "I am not complicit", it's about the most weak ass pathetic statement he could have put out.

All I know is if I was staring down the barrel of cutting loose a fellow artist or capitulating to venues, I'd've made a different choice.
