Washington — Far-right political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos is currently in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, according to the agency's online detainee database.

Reports indicate Yiannopoulos, who is British, was in New Orleans ahead of a Kanye West concert scheduled for Friday night. TMZ first reported Yiannopoulos' status.

CBS News has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security and ICE for additional details and the basis for his apprehension.

Yiannopoulos has done work for West's political and corporate ambitions.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

You can tell that deplatforming works because this is the first time I've heard this guy's name in years after he was so prolific back in the day.

He's a British Catholic Fascist Nazi who got popular during/just before Trump 1.0 for the usual anti-Islam screeching and college speaking tours. I think he was promoted by Breitbart & Bannon et. al.

I think Milo started his career as a youtube atheist. In 2014, he was a lead promoter of the gamergate harassment campaign.

After being a youtube atheist, in 2015, he started a Charlie-Kirk-style college campus tour which he called "The Dangerous (f-slur) tour". His shtick was that he was gay and also conservative.

His first big cancellation came after Milo said that he was happy that he was molested as a boy by a catholic priest because it helped him come out as gay. Milo said this on a podcast by "The Amazing Atheist", one of the original youtube atheists.

Milo married his husband in 2019. In 2021, Milo said he went through gay conversion therapy and that he was no longer gay or an atheist, now a heterosexual Catholic.

Milo has been employed by Kanye West since 2022. Milo worked as a promoter/manager for Kanye during Kanye's Nazi-music era.

tl;dr Milo is a pedophile and a Nazi.

e/ also Milo was banned from twitter in 2016 until Elon bought twitter. there was meme on /r/chapotraphouse, where people would say "look how Milo reacted to (thing)" and then link to his twitter, but it would just say that he's banned.

My "don't trust an adult convert to any religion" rule continues to be vindicated.

Do you consider Buddhists a part of this rule, since it is not a religion?

/genuine I know very little about Buddhism, but isn't it an religion? If not, what is Buddhism then?

Buddhism does not map 1:1 with the Western concept of religion and doesn't preclude membership in a faith.

It's kind of in a grey area, rather than being black and white. Materialism is not a religion, Christianity is a religion. Buddhism isn't so clearly a religion or not a religion.

A better term to describe it might be "Philosophy" or "way of life"

One of the original Alt-Right chuds, dude had a huge twitter following and had an editorial role in Breitbart. He also was one of the first to use their otherness to launder nazi talking points, in this case the fact that he was gay.

He's so edgy and uninteresting that as soon as he ran into legal trouble and got banned from Twitter everyone dumped him and now he's been yelling into the void trying to get anyone to pay attention to him.

Oof he is the worst. One if the earliest far right online personalities, but also a gay man, so a willing and eager token for the right

I thought he was "reformed" since willingly undergoing conversion therapy?
