I love watching people get what they deserve. But I worry we've created a world where its not possible to change your stance on something or admit you were wrong. Like something from the Art of War that says you shouldn't surround your enemy completely or they will fight harder since escape isn't an option. Even if you don't intend for them to escape, merely thinking they can wont cause them to fight as hard.

[-] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 7 points 2 hours ago

They don’t want to escape, though.

They’re in a prison of their own design.

[-] VelvetPinkOtter123@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

That's a shitty way to get any change

If you voted for Trump and you realize it was a mistake, that's OK. People make mistakes and what is important is that you realize it was a mistake and don't do it again in the future

Welcome to the Democratic party, I'm glad to have you with us

[-] w3ird_sloth@lemmy.world 9 points 2 hours ago

He's criticizing them for making a mistake, realizing it was a mistake and being angry about it, then making the mistake again. Many out of contempt.

[-] Horsey@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Of course there are people who make mistakes, but Trump’s poor-people base is, at its core, temporarily embarrassed millionaires. They voted for him to take away from others hoping that the savings would be spent directly on their social causes.

Do keep in mind that Trump still enjoys something like 90+% approval among Republicans. Some people remain convinced that they like turd soup.

[-] Objection@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago

That just means that people stop identifying as Republicans if they don't like Trump, because he's the image of the Republican party.

[-] raze2012@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

it's dipped these days to "only" 81-82%. Which is a big drop, but still way too damn high. Propoganda is crazy.

The supposed "independents" are where his numbers truly cratered. Basically drove his entire approval rating since Democratic approval started at like... 6%.

[-] dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 hours ago

Hasnt he lost completely mexican male voters and young male voters?

[-] 5318008@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 minutes ago

Hahahaha, no. Two thirds of Latino Trymp voters still approve.

Pew pew pew

[-] LLMhater1312@piefed.social 22 points 5 hours ago

Its white supremacy - There are plenty that don't regret theur choices because they are either still unaffected because they are closer to the white supremacist ideal (affluent, non marginilized white men) or think they will soon become those men (temporarily embarrassed non marginilized white men that aren't afluent) or they think they are the exception to the rule (tokenized minorities and white women, gay white me, etc who are only tokenized as long as they are useful).

I wish we could raise white people's class consciousness and sense of solidarity with all working people

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 hours ago

Millions of black and latino voters choose Trump. Latinos tipped the scale away from Democrats.

But there is a long bizarre history of immigrant groups immediately shitting on other immigrants.

[-] SippyCup@lemmy.world 9 points 3 hours ago

Because Democrats don't give a shit about working class people, and use marginalized people as tokens. "You'll vote for us because Republicans actively hate you." Seriously the amount of contempt Democrats seem to have for their own base is alarming.

So Latino voters vote on other things, like abortion. Being mostly Catholic this tends to split that group up. Moreso because the DNC refuses to support down ballot Democrats that don't go hard for abortion.

[-] Smaile@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

It's cuz those people got theirs and now they want to close the gate, same as the current cons, theyre to dumb to realized that once they do get that wish, they'll be the next group of people the cons will focus on getting rid off since current day concurvatism exclusicly focus on exclusion. I don't like a shitload of foreigners migrating out into a country like what happened here in canada during Justin's reign just so they can cover cheap labor and exclude younger workers but it's stupid for them to think they won't be persecuted by people like this and can't understand that these people aren't concervatives, theyre fascists.

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 hours ago

The USA has been kicking the ball forward on a cohesive immigration plan for decades, Democrats did nothing to address that.

Turd Soup or Shit Smoothie is the choice.

[-] jpreston2005@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

I think the republicans being obstinate and stonewalling at every conceivable avenue might have had an effect.

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 hour ago

No one in either camp came up with a comprehensive plan to formally set guidelines for immigration, targets, quotas, etc . It was a mess because no one dealt with it.

[-] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago
[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

anything over 0% is high.

"Trump nearly doubled his support among Black voters between 2020 and 2024"

[-] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

anything over 0% is high

Agreed

As to your second point, double jack shit is two jack shits. I'm not saying that no black people voted for trump. I'm disputing the point you made refuting that white supremacy was the reason we have trump.

It was 100% white supremacy, and saying 'well, Black people did it too' is a magat talking point.

The fact that latinos helped greatly, does not make it any less motivated by white supremacy, except from an American white racist's standpoint. Plenty of people not considered white by American white supremacists still consider themselves white, especially in central and South America.

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 12 points 5 hours ago

I agree with a lot of what you said but the fact is 46% of Latino voters chose trump too. The fact is the billionaire owed propaganda machine is very effective at keeping us divided and distracted

[-] impairedimperator@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 hours ago

There are definitely non-white white supremacists...

[-] cantstopthesignal@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 hours ago

The Dave Chappelle skit and Uncle Rukus were telling a hard truth along with trying to be funny.

[-] BigMacHole 23 points 6 hours ago

I ordered the TURD SOUP and all I got was TURD in my SOUP! I HATE eating Turds! It's INHUMANE to eat TURDS! Would DEFINITELY Order Turd Soup AGAIN!

-LITERALLY Republican Voters!

[-] starelfsc2@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 hours ago

How were they supposed to know there were turds in it?? There were NO indications!

I was talking to someone and they said "oh man this person Trump worked with turned out to be an evil scammer. So did this person. And these 20 other people. And also Jeffery Epstein." I'm like huh wow he must just be really unlucky then! No other explanation!

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 hours ago

Y'all got any more of that Turd soup?

[-] CptOblivius@lemmy.world 15 points 5 hours ago

Half was ok with turd soup as long as liberals got turd soup too. Owning the libs was priority. The other half thought they were ordering turd soup for the others and not them, and then were surprised when everyone gets turd soup.

[-] Jax@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

I have sympathy for Trump voters in the same way that I have sympathy for the mentally handicapped.

That being said, I don't hate the mentally handicapped people. I do hate MAGA.

[-] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

And they'll all just say it's the Democrats' fault, then bring in another red wave this November.

[-] svcg@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 7 hours ago

It's hard to feel sympathy for Trump voters in general, but certainly there are some specific Trump voters who might deserve sympathy.

Just as some people are raised racist, homophobic, etc. but change their tune once they actually meet some POC, LGBT people, etc., there will be people out there who have just absorbed general vibes of "Republicans = good economy, Democrats = bad economy" from everyone in their lives and never experienced anything that made them question it. Some people are well-intentioned, but... really dumb and oblivious.

[-] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

I try to feel sympathy when I can. Like 90% of my generation was raised to believe homosexuality was immoral and gay marriage was wrong and that was how I felt. That changed when I grew up and I've spent 30 years fighting for gay rights.

But the reason I don't feel sympathy in this case is that Trump represents NOTHING about how Southern Conservative Christians were raising their kids. He's the living embodiment of everything the church claims to be against. He's a New York elitist pedophile billionaire the "regular hard-working folk" should despise. There's nothing redeeming about him AT ALL.

I get the impression he's torn on abortion laws - because he gets an erection thinking about killing innocent babies but doesn't like the idea of women having ownership of their own bodies.

[-] Airfried@piefed.social 9 points 6 hours ago

And then they asked for the turd soup for a third time!

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 hours ago

Turd soup...as American as apple diarrhea pie...
