    Unfortunately my brother, an electrical engineer, uses it daily. I've warned him it's gonna make him dumber. Thankfully he uses it for office stuff and not (yet) directly on his work

    Yes, your hand calc speed may decrease a bit because you are not using it all the time, but overall the calculator saves you time and helps you calculate more things.

    Would it not be like that in the hands of folk who need it to have proper results?

    But yes, A lot of regular LLM output seems iffy and superficial.

    The problem is that while a calculator is true and well tested, when it comes to people's lives and massive infrastructure projects, the lying machine lies once and it could cost real lives. Also, the user ends up responsible for those falsehoods. Just not worth the risk. It slowly makes you dumber and out of practice is the best case scenario.

    1. Finance isn't exactly a sector to be complaining about people being detached from reality

    2. What jobs are they hiring for where humanities and STEM grads are equivalent? Surely all the finance guy dumbfuck positions required people to go to business schools?

    What jobs are they hiring for where humanities and STEM grads are equivalent?

    Entry-level analyst positions where a large part of the work is analyzing news and policy, condensing it to inform investment strategy. It usually doesn't require any elaborate number skills or anything like that. They also don't require an MBA, unless you want to go up in the company.
