Just wait til January. That's when the majority of the One Big Buttfucked Bill passed last summer takes effect.

The Republicans decimated healthcare across the board, diverting over a trillion dollars from Medicaid and ACA alone, but that's not actually the worst of it.

We don't know the worst of it yet because we haven't seen the worst of it yet.

Anticipating the usual midterm majority party switch, the Republicans made sure the biggest hits wouldn't take effect until after November 2026 -- the midterms -- so they could blame the Democrats.

They literally have this steal credit/deflect blame schtick baked into their SOP now.

So we should spread the word far and wide now, before the midterms

Yup. I'm doing what I can.

I thought it was going to be a reduction close to 600%

After the first 100% they're reimbursing you for all those years of theft.

For decades, laws have always taken a few years to kick in. Trump isn't the Republican first to take credit for a Democrat president policy.

Oh and half the time these laws don't actually need to take that long to kick in. Many could be instant, but just aren't for no reason.

Republicans also famously break things on their way out so they can blame the consequences on their successors. Like how trump committed the US military to pulling out of Afghanistan with no plan in place.

Or Trump's first round of tax cuts (for normal people) expired in 2025.

A lot of laws require time to get things set up. Usually the delay is to allow all parties to get ready for the law to take full effect or even to allow some time for the legal system to iron out any potential kinks.

I'd much rather have laws take a little time to come into full effect than whiplash of a law changing in flight. Just look at the tariffs as an example of the mess that can cause.

That why I said half the time. There are many laws that don't require set, but still take time because fuck the American people.

I like the Japanese system if one is going to have a for profit medical system. That is all products and services have a capped profit and hospitals must list prices.. way better than the game of insurance companies hiking up prices so your copay is the same price as the original item or treatment.

[-] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 3 points 20 hours ago

Or just a do standardized profit margin max and min law for everything except luxury items?

Honestly, capitalism can work if we take the capital centric laws out

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 hours ago

What's to be gained by having hospitals privately owned at all? It's not like they're competing over price or service... They're just monopolies all the way down the supply chain.

Regulating private health care is polishing a turd.

We didn't miss a huge opportunity to make private firefighting work, or new advances in fire suppression. We just missed out on a bunch of pointless house fires. Today that's every sick or dead person who could be doing things instead.
