So, the thing about Cars 2 right.

In Cars the plot of the film revolves very tightly around the idea that the way people live in the modern age (and particularly the way they transport themselves) is incentivised to progress and develop toward alienating those people from communities that live in and on the places they move through and that those changes are causing suffering as adherents to or prisoners of the old ways of doing things are left behind and underserved. Because this is a theme explained through the parallels between motor racing and the older rural automotive landscape, that is, because most of the metaphor the film is using concerns the automobile, it makes sense to simplify the framing for a children's cartoon and make all the characters cars.

In Cars 2 every character is a car for absolutely no fucking reason whatsoever except that they were in the first movie and it would be weird to change it now.

There was a Pope Mobile in one of them, which means that there was a Car Jesus. Or at least a Christian Car Bible.

There was a planes spinoff where one of the characters is a helldiver plane, and has literal flash backs to being in WW2,

The second movie is all about spies, which means there was a Cold War, and if there was a Cold War, there was a Russia, and if there was a Russia, there was a Stalin and a Lenin, which means there were communists, and eventually a Red Scare and a McCarthy, which means there was a nuclear scare and, naturally, nuclear weapons.

The Porsche girl character, I can't remember her name because I'm 40, had one of those lower-back tattoos, which opens up a whole other series of "which means" implications that I absolutely do not want to get into.

This rabbit hole goes much deeper than Pixar intended.

Reminder that Cars is a pro-eugenics franchise, and probably would have depicted the smashing of "lemon" cars as a heroic act.

I wonder how the nonexistence of horses in the Umamusume franchise affected war, and how Hitler viewed the horse girls.
