Hi fellas (lemy.nl)
submitted 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) by Lackomotivport@lemy.nl to c/artshare@lemmy.world

Hi everyone! I'm new here and planning to settle in… I live in a terrifyingly cold country 😱 … but deep down I'm kinda an artist and storyteller.

I listen to music, I'm thinking of posting my drawings, and just seeing what's what around here 😁

Oh, and if I don't reply right away β€” sorry in advance, I don't speak English at all πŸ˜‡ (using a translator, so bear with me!)

Wait, I don't see the drawing - is it there or not?

It's there, and welcome to our little nook of the internet!

It loads for me if I open in a new tab, but not through my instance's link preview.

Love the style, it reminds me of a cartoon I've seen but I can't think which one. It's the damnedest thing... Hope to see more!

Thank you! Well, to be honest, I draw in a specific style… I try to make textured images, if you could put it that way. Although emotions are important to me πŸ˜†

Textures like this are so moody and tactile, it's hard not to love them. They can work really well when there's a sense of 3D construction to lend some weight to things.

I'm also really interested in how you used those gritty splatter effects for shading!

Thanks, I'm flattered! To be honest, I used two pastel brushes. One could blend, and for the other one, I boosted the texture size on a new layer... I'm still trying to track down my brushes (and keep losing them πŸ˜†)

By the way, was that a question? πŸ˜…

That's cool! Not a question, just pointing out something I liked :D

Yes, or a video game maybe? I can't say for sure either but it does look familiar - in a good way. I like it too!

Reminds a bit of Scott Pilgrim maybe? Been some years since I read the comic so I may be misremembering though.

I'm glad you like it! The inspiration comes from simple meme scenes and those minimalist, expressive anime scenes

Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

NSFW Policy: Nudity and suggestive content has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity or suggestive content, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity or suggestive content that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude or suggestive subject matter. If you aren't sure if your work is NSFW or not, just ask yourself, "Could I look at this at a typical office job and not get into trouble?" If you're still not sure after that, you should probably mark it as NSFW just to be on the safe side.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.
