Now albon. Way way too many red flags in conditions that are challenging but not terrible. What is going on?

Drivers have been complaining about the new tarmac all weekend, probably making grip in the wet even worse and more unpredictable than usual.

Probably, yeah. With the current ground effect cars, visibility concerns from rooster tailing means the window for a track being both safe to drive and the full Wets being the fastest tire is like imperceptibly small.

It's easy to forget between all the times of praying for interesting weather that there is very much such a thing as too much rain.

Sync. But it's working now, confusingly.

Your link isn't working for me but I see now that you already linked this community. Totally my bad, I apologise!

It's a super useful place for finding new communities to subscribe to! I also heartily recommend [email protected]

Yeah but it's not really the same thing years later when most people are long finished with the game. Was the same with playing BG3 around release last year, participating in conversations with friends and strangers alike about discoveries in the game as it's happening and everyone is talking about it and playing it at the same time. I'm sure similar things happened this year with Black Myth Wukong and Silent Hill 2 Remake to some extent, though I didn't play those.

It's not about spoilers so much as participating in the buzz and culture and community that only really occurs around release.

This is all hearsay but I've heard said Carlos Slim is considering dropping support for Perez in favour of backing Colapinto instead. As we've come to learn during the Checo tenure, cash flow seems to be the only thing Red Bull cares about post Mateschitz.

Totally. And between stuff like the stage fight in AW1, the Ashtray Maze in Control and We Sing in AW2 Remedy has gotten so damn good at integrating music and gameplay too.

I personally was blown away by POE - This Road as well. The track is mesmerising and every time a new variation on it played after an Alan chapter I had almost goosebumps. I still regularly go back and listen to the whole 9 minute track on YouTube.

What on earth is going on with that team. Sigh. I miss the halcyon days of last year. Especially here at Interlagos, that duel between Alonso and Perez for the podium was a season highlight.

I love Lucas Pope and would like to one day play Mars After Midnight, but I'm not paying over 200 bucks for one of these anytime soon.

I think going by overall mainstream appeal and zeitgeist it's correct. Everybody was talking about BG3 that year, even people who are usually not fans of the genre. So in that sense I agree that 2023 was the year of BG3.

On the games' merit alone as standalone pieces of art abstracted from context I think Alan Wake 2 puts up a good fight.

As an early contributor to Disco Elysium, as well as a member of Kurvitz's tabletop sessions over the years, Martin Luiga discusses Elysium, as well as touches on his relationships with Robert and Argo Tuulik and more. He also confirms he, Robert, Alex Rostov and Helen Hindpere are in fact working on something for Red Info.

Worth listen!

This one has Argo Tuulik and Lenval Brown involved, which lends some serious credibility to the project in my eyes. Tuulik was one of the prominent writers of Disco Elysium, as well as one of the settings' co-creators as one of the players in Kurvitz's tabletop RPG sessions.

Pictured in this graph: what xG does to a motherfucker.

I thought this graph was super interesting as it is a near-perfect illustration of when data analytics and advanced statistics started to enter into football (2014-2016) and some of the effects it's had on the game.

EDIT: Forgot to paste a link to the complete article.

It's very sad to see one of the most high-effort Dota content creators stop. I completely sympathise with their reasons, but I will sorely miss their videos as there were so many heroes I wish they'd gotten to do videos about.

We're finally off the ground! 8 teams left, who are your favourites? What do you think about the arena and production? Will we see any fun surprise?

Still have an open void in your life since the Olympics ended? Why not fill it with some esports? Valve's huge The International tournament for Dota 2 started this week, so I thought I'd make a promo post for its community here on Lemmy.

What teams are you watching? What do you think of the games? Any potential upsets to look out for, any player you're excited to see perform?

I was waiting for the original poster to repost it here, but if they aren't then I will since this photo definitely belongs here.

While still holding out hope of one day seeing his book (the excellently titled "etceteracide") released, a song lyric will do. RSH was great with words, and I always thought this read pretty well as a poem.

Not his best comic but there's some good stuff in there as always. The "Fatty" (sorry, body-positivity) Foulkes reference was a great deep cut.^[1]

Three weeks into her presidential run was the first time the Biden campaign’s pollsters — now hers — held a deep-dive call with Kamala Harris’ inner circle to discuss what she’s been saying on the stump.

Over the line came a lot of praise, but also some suggested tweaks. First, said veteran Democratic numbers man Geoff Garin, summarizing their analysis, stop saying, “We’re not going back.” It wasn’t focused enough on the future, he argued. Second, lay off all the “weird” talk — too negative.

Yes, stop using the two approaches that has been most effective. Absolute genius. I can't for the life of me see why the Dems have a reputation of shooting themselves in the foot.

EDIT: Thankfully Kamala trusted her instincts and has had the good sense to ignore said advice so far
