Stay at home parenting is the exact same costs of not more, no? We shouldn't have it for either it just really doesn't make that much sense

"Do you work from home?"

"No."

please consider guillotines for landlords.

the epstein class has successfully convinced the western world that non-violence is the only viable path forward.

[-] TiredTiger@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 day ago

The cheering for Luigi has me wondering whether the embrace of non-violence actually runs that deep. I think people are scared, but I think those with a deep and abiding commitment to non-violence are a minority.

Left wing violence is a means, not an ends; the reason you see so much egregious violence from fascists is that violence and its emotions are the ends for them, it's what they set out to achieve. I am honestly terrified that we do not see substantive shifts before left wing violence breaks out, when violence is a necessary means it tends to be largely indiscriminate... just ask the Romanov children.

I agree, especially if they were put under enough pressure, and were part of a movement without said commitment to non-violence

[-] unwarlikeExtortion@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 day ago

No. Violence always was, still is, and most likely almost forever will be - an integral part of society.

However, "The State" has the monopoly on it and on its legitimate use - one it lends out to its organs, giving them rules of conduct, standards and a uniform to make it feel legitimate.

Just charge what the utilities cost. Why you gotta make up some bullshit to tack ontop?

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

Dragon levels of greed

[-] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 days ago

Why

They thought of a bigger number and now its your problem.

[-] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago

why

Because they're parasites

[-] leftOverLife@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 day ago

Correct answer.

[-] saltnotsugar@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

Because they’ll always invent some BS way to charge you more while providing less.

Well, the article seems to explain it: they can't.

Local policies seem to cap the rent to protect renters, so they make up some bullshit extra fees to bypass those caps.

And a functional local government wouldn't allow that kind of sophistry and would treat that exactly like illegal rent increases. But you can't have both landlords existing and any level of functional government.

Sometimes they're included, sometimes not, sometimes some are while others are not.

[-] Bloobish@hexbear.net 33 points 2 days ago

Fucking landlords proving their perpetual greed and rent seeking behavior. Also how the fuck would they even know? Are they spying on you?

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 11 points 1 day ago

Are they spying on you?

Yes. Security cameras serve more than one purpose, as do the nosy neighbors who keep reporting people.

Mao’s policy on landlords sounds better every day.

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 1 points 23 hours ago

More and more people are saying it!

[-] DudleyMason@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago

Mao was far too kind, tbh

How did we go from chains to reins to peens?

[-] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 1 day ago

people told me reins looked like penis so i rolled with it lol

[-] davel@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 day ago

I lost my penis, and I find this offensive.

Edit to add: Nevermind, I found it.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 6 points 1 day ago

Appreciate this, especially the commute cost calculator. Thank you.

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago

It is only reasonable and fair that every landlord who tries this be executed.

[-] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

I dont advocate for violence, but I do advocate for jury nullification.
