If there’s a singularity here, it’s that OpenAI is a black hole that all the money falls into. And you’ll never see it again.

    Yea.... OK can it still count the R's in strawberry? Or Xs in October? Or have a timer for a mile run?

    This technology is a joke

    The seahorse emoji remains my favorite for showing how LLMs are completely incapable of handling obviously false information in their training data.

    @dgerard
    Sam Altman is in the singularity, in that he is now convinced LLMs are smarter than him, he doesn't understand the tech or how it is evolving, and he doesn't know what's going to happen next.

    The rest of us are not in his exact predicament. I was going to say we're fine, but nah.

    I'm reminded of a quote that used to always come up when I was studying cryptography. Bruce Schneier would always remind people that it's easy to design an encryption scheme that you can't break. But it's hard to design an encryption scheme that nobody else can break, either.

    It is a good reminder that there needs to be a degree of intellectual humility by those who want to design big systems that affect the whole world.

    Day 3 after the singularity. Rate of change still the same, no warnings about light cones, and openAI still didnt make trillions of dollars.

    Worst. Singularity. Ever.

    @Soyweiser @dgerard

    What if Musk is the financial singularity?

    First he's a trillionaire, next year he has 2 trillion, the year after that 4 trillion, and so on, until he owns more dollars than have ever existed, at which point the US treasury collapses into a black hole and is never seen again.

    The true Tech Singularity foretold by prophecy is that all Tech Bro Billionaires will become hopelessly single.

    All y’all still don’t get it: the singularity is here, it’s just not evenly distributed yet.
