Who is Tim Pool?

I've seen people mention Dim Tool in other posts and I now think it might be the same person

[-] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 85 points 1 month ago

Larped as a centrist that only happened to agree with right wing points. Turned out to be an honest to God paid russian shill.

Dim tool is indeed another name for him.

Tim Pool is...

Imagine the whiny emo guy from high school, who is actually just a duplicitous, self centered, sexist asshole, who drops out and then gets his GED later, when his plan to make it big as a pro skater didn't work out.

That's basically Tim Pool.

An insufferable moron who needs to feel important, but who is also too incompetent for his manipulative nature to generally work on anyone with an IQ over ~95.

Oh right yeah, he was also literally a paid Russian propoganda/intelligence asset, unwittingly.

He was too stupid to realize the money was coming from Russia, because he did no due diligence.

So I guess add 'craven grifter' into the descriptor pile.

There ya go, this Tim Pool in under 90 seconds.

Sadly, Tim Pool is, in the US, a pretty well known ... political pundit/podcast bro.

too stupid to realize the money was coming from Russia

and/or too greedy to care. To any reputable independent media outlet, it may raise an eyebrow if some unknown funding source reached out and said "we'll give you $10 million to basically keep doing exactly what you're already doing. Ukraine bad, Russia good, etc. etc." but for Tim he obviously didn't give a shit when the check cleared. Pathetic that his exact brand is "you can't trust any other media source but me! They're all bought and paid for!"

Timbah.On.Toast is an excellent YouTube channel that has some very thorough breakdowns of some prominent grifters. Dave Rubin, James O'Keefe, Russell Brand, and a multi-part series on Tim Pool which starts right here: https://youtu.be/TRfbczIaR7E

Highly recommended if you're into that sort of thing.

I'm pretty sure I have seen that Timbah Toast video, and basically yep yep yep! Would reccomend it to others, kind of a guide to the grifting scum that sadly constitute 'political discourse' in the US these days.

[-] ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

He also doesn't really like taking his beanie off

[-] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 month ago

He claims it’s so people don’t recognize him, being a big celebrity and all…..

Lmao

[-] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

So you know how skateboarding is viewed as a useful tool for fashion et al to target the young? Large industry... borrows the sheen of the sport at steet level to project authenticity at a marketing level.

That's Tim Pool, but as a conservative instigator. He's one of their cards in that whole arena. Buy a skate park and start drama as a foot in the door to the talking heads space.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 31 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The point of this is hilarious:

  • Tim Pool was being duped originally by Russia
  • Tim Pool is lying and saying that Russia said negative things about Trump. Russia was on Trump's side, lol

Was he actually duped?

[-] Jax@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

Maybe, but now his livelihood depends on the idiots that watch him continuing to tune in. He's gotta keep the grift going however he can, obfuscating the truth on something like this means he can eek out a few more roubles.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago

Tim Pool isn't very smart and not the least bit honest.

I doubt he can tell apart when he's being duped and when he's duping others most of the time himself.

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 6 points 1 month ago

The DOJ literally said he was paid. That's not being duped, you don't get duped to be paid to carry out an assignment and do it flawlessly.

[-] blarth 4 points 1 month ago

It’s far too generous to pretend Tim Pool didn’t know he was being paid by Russia.

[-] thethunderwolf@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

he said that it was china, not russia

[-] bunnybunny@lemmy.zip 27 points 1 month ago

Well if the president is allowed to betray his country for money why shouldn’t other people be allowed to do the same?

Oopsie woopsie I took a widdle bwibe.

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago

That view count applies to the top post, not the bottom post right?

I’m guessing fewer people see the bottom comment.

[-] tempest@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago

Yes which is why 'gotcha tweets' are such a fucking waste of time.

Both of these tweets are preaching to the choir. No one with a conservative bent is going to see that second tweet and they are even less likely to know Pool took money from the the Russians.

The lower tweet has the same energy as my boomer father 'tweeting at Trump'

[-] Asafum@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Too bad millions saw scumbag pools post and probably only hundreds saw the reply :/

Man! You can get PAID for writing negative articles about Trump?

[-] kinther@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Wasn't it already known that Tim Pool was a Russian asset? Whether unintentional or not, this has been common knowledge for the past several years...

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

See? Influenca.

I wonder how much money China paid Indian journalists to write that Modi was never overly fond of Muslims 🤔

[-] arbitrary_sarcasm@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago
[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Nope, thoroughly sarcastic about whether China need to pay journalists to state the blindingly obvious 😄

A community to satirize conservtive and right-wing "ideals".

This community (now) exists as a pressure valve, a place to process through humor the often frustrating world of conservative politics. Above all, this is NOT the place for serious conservative support/viewpoints/arguments. There are other places on Lemmy for that if you desire it.

Rules:

  1. Always follow .world instance rules

  2. Parody With Purpose: This is a space for humorous takes on conservative politics. We welcome satire, but draw the line at content that promotes racism, sexism, homophobia, or other forms of bigotry.

  3. Memes Over Manifestos: This community focuses on humor and parody, not serious political debate. There are plenty of spaces for earnest conservative discussion, this isn’t one of them.

  4. Highlight Contradictions: Sometimes the best content points out inconsistencies and hypocrisies in conservative talking points. Creative commentary is encouraged.

  5. Public Figures Fair Game: Politicians and pundits can be satirized, but no targeting of private individuals, doxxing, or harassment.

Children of public figures under the age of 14 are also off-limits, a 16 year old has enough free agency to break with or adopt their parents views. An 8 year old kid doesn't.

  1. No News Zone: Memes only, news or other serious content should be sent to the nearest relevant comm. Meme's of current events, however, are encouraged.

  2. Clear Satire: Make your satirical intent reasonably clear. We’re here to mock bad ideas, not accidentally spread them. If you're unsure how it will be taken, feel free to DM the mod team ahead of time or explicitly tag it as satire in the body.

A note on ChadMcTruth: Chad's content is 100% satire, but his work can sometimes be hard to tell, but if he posted it be assured, its satire.

  1. Relevant Content: All posts should relate to conservative politics or ideologies in some way somewhere in your post. Either in the title or the meme itself.

For more general political memes please see !politicalmemes@lemmy.world

  1. Community Respect: Disagree with fellow members all you want, but personal attacks aren’t welcome. Save the criticism for the ideas, not each other.

  2. Moderation Discretion: Mods will use reasonable judgment in applying these rules. We’ll be fair, but firm. These kinds of comms have a tendency to get off the rails, so we might seem overzealous in moderation sometimes.

  3. For the moment, i'm allowing properly tagged NSFW content as long as its funny and relevant. Don't make me regret it.

And above all, HAVE FUN!
