Such a fucking shame. Tiktok was instrumental in collective action, news, and education for young people. They stole it and turned it into a brainrot farm.

I don't know if this sarcasm or delusion.

Tiktok was directly responsible for mobilizing the gen z vote in 2018, 2020, and 2022. It helped get them mad enough to protest, it shared video of events in Hong Kong, Iran and Isreal.

It covered oceangate.

It covered the murder of the united health care ceo.

It covered action in Ukraine.

It covered privacy issues and other concerns in the tech world.

Its fact.

We are less informed now that it had been taken over by US billionaires.

My cousins getting their brains fried bt an alternate reality of talking cats, flying people, and morphing rooms. The mother won't intervene no matter what we tell her so i hope i can offer the results of this experiment

Whereas before it was slop made by flesh-and-blood morons and propagandists. They're taking our jobs!

House rules

  1. Be decent. Argue with the article, not the person.
  2. On topic: our stories, or news adjacent to them. Off-topic threads may get locked.
  3. No spam, no self-promo. Posting your own relevant work in the comments is fine; drive-by link dumps are not.
  4. Corrections are gold. If we got something wrong, say so specifically and bring a source. We fix things in public.
