The joke is on you, the username is publicly visible (so you don't need to ask) and Lemmy automatically censors your password if you try to post it in plain text. This is actually bothersome if it's a dictionary word, for example my password is ******** but everytime I try to write a sentence with it, like "I love it when you ******** me", it gets posted with *s like I love it when you ******** me ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

[Edit: dammit, I fall for it every single time!]

From those of us who where there, when they were written, to the n00bs who were born after IRC, ICQ, and chatrooms fell out of use. We need to remember the ancient scrolls.

I actually don't know my password.

I'm only logged in on my phone and once I uninstall Boost this account will die

[-] otter@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago

username: otter password: the name of my favorite rock

I also have 2FA set up, let me know if you need that one

[-] zxqwas@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

User name you can see. Password honestly no fucking clue. I always end up resetting my password if my login times out. In essence my email account is my password manager.

[-] teegus@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

What's the password to your email account?

[-] markz@suppo.fi 5 points 1 week ago

I'm never telling you my username.

I got frustrated with an account a long time ago that was doing the incorrect password -> reset password -> you can't use a password you've already used.

So I set it as EatMyA$$

And now on the very rare occasion I have to log into that account again, it tickles me

[-] hanke@feddit.nu 4 points 1 week ago

You really got me there

[-] G0rb@infosec.pub 3 points 1 week ago

Honestly, I love to play around with password statistics on https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords

Passwords tell a lot about an society. And it's rough to see how many people used e.g. "ineedhelp" as password.

[-] noxypaws@pawb.social 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

there are no password statistics that I can play with at that URL

I only use the most secure password ever: password

Jokes aside, just about any time I set up an insignificant VM that won't be internet connected or live for long enough to be a threat to me ( think installing a distro/old windows in order to give something a quick check ), I tend to use P@ssw0rd or the same thing with a 1! at the end. Only because that's basically the password I've commonly seen when doing things like when I had to set up a VM for a Linux Fundamentals college course or for any work done in a Linux VM set up in an online lab through a certain company.

But anything serious, I will either make up a password or have a password manager do it for me, even to my own detriment. Still have a locked zip folder that I'm pretty sure has a password of at least 20-25 characters long I can't access because my memory, if that tells you anything.

[-] noxypaws@pawb.social 1 points 1 week ago

too obscene, I'd get banned

[-] reader@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

I already banned you

[-] guille2a@chachara.club 1 points 1 week ago

I'm going to have a problem if I have to replace my phone...

[-] elephantium@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

My wifi password used to be Idonotremember. It was a hoot when we'd have guests over!

Take a guess
