Seriously though, your style is kickass!

Thank you for sharing, I can totally relate. I was in a very similar situation a few months ago.

Hey, in so sorry for all the hardship you had to go through ๐Ÿ˜” But there's hope, and it looks like is getting better from here, right? You are right to be angry at your past, but it's not too helpful to stay stuck in those thoughts. The only way forward is forward, so rather look ahead. We all have scars, had our good and bad memories, they shape who we are, they make us unique. IMO it's helpful to consider that people are doing the best they can, even if they isn't perfect. Your mom might have problems, but she is probably also trying to live life and to parent as best as she can.

You are doing a great job by venting and by looking for community! I hope you get better ๐Ÿ™

Are you okay with sharing an update on your situation?

Personally, I've had good experiences with couples' therapy and taking walks together (either to talk about random stuff, or to talk about our partnership, ourselves). It takes some courage, but being honest with your feelings, your worries and your desires, in other words playing with open cards, can help your partner to understand you better and can help your marriage to grow stronger. Therapy can help especially in case some feelings overwhelm you both and you don't know how to deal with them.

I'm so happy for you being able to experience his ๐Ÿฅฐ

Oh wrote, thank you for making comics and posting here!

Don't worry too much about having to pump out content. Like, not to the point were it detrimental to your health instead of being fun.

Take Part in the Free โ€œHuge Vegan Survey"!

The Huge Vegan Survey is now open, and your voice is needed. Run independently by UK-based zoologist Jordi Casamitjana, this global study is looking for adults worldwide who identify as vegan, plant-based, or something similar to complete a short online questionnaire.

The goal? To build one of the largest and most comprehensive international snapshots of what draws people to โ€” and keeps them in โ€” vegan and plant-based lifestyles.

Here's what to know before you dive in:

  • Fully anonymous โ€” no registration, no personal details required
  • Takes just 10โ€“20 minutes to complete
  • Your responses help researchers, advocates, and outreach efforts better understand and support our communities

Every response makes the picture clearer and the data stronger, so please take a few minutes to participate, and spread the word with friends, family, and your favorite online groups!

I agree with the reasoning, that with "vegan ethics" ~~as~~ at the basis, easier to argue for other basic (human) rights and non-violence. If anyone deserves to live free of harm, then there's less debate for racism, etc. You are right that non-veganism is hypocritical of leftists. I do comment on comrades' lack of integrity. The same applies regarding queer-friendliness.

But how are you drawing the conclusion, that veganism should be at the epicenter? How would that be achieved? Isn't it also hypocritical for vegans to not be activists for a broader spectrum of left political topics? Veganism definitely does attach to many topics, but it would be a bad center for them. How would a critique of media or militarism be stronger from a vegan-centric position?

In veganism, our perspective is from a position of power (to abuse animals), which we're individually not boycotting. We are arguing that other people should voluntarily join us, or we're trying to make veganism more accessible. However, many other super important left topics are from quite the opposite perspective: we are the oppressed, trying to take down the oppressors. We can't just "argue with other oppressors". We can't just sit down with a cup of warm oat milk and say "oppression is immoral, please stop". We need to get up and actively fight it, and I haven't seen "vegan-centric approaches" that would be advantageous here.

It's one struggle, one fight. Joining forces across the left spectrum is one of the most powerful things we can do, and I'd love to see us fighting jointly. It's also what out adversaries fear the most! The FBI killed MLK and Black Panther Party leaders after they and their peers brought together distinct groups. But it seems uninformed to consider veganism as the epicenter. The epicenter should be a framework to understand, organize and lead the struggle. I'd rather have strong core values from which veganism concludes, than a center from which other struggles are merely touched upon but not actually addressed.

Hope to see a constructive discussion ๐Ÿ˜€

It's honestly amazing

"Oh you shaved? You look better that way" and "I didn't even notice, my attention is always to caught up in your blue hair" is all the comments I'm getting ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I didn't expect anyone to seriously consider saying "is 5G", but honestly... I think it's a good call. Answering uncomfortable questions with jokes is a great life hack, because itself will subspecialty associate the topic with humor and good emotions. Even if someone insults you with malice, if you but them with a good comeback, there's a chance everyone's laughing and the malice is retroactively denied (as in them thinking "of I was just joking" as well).

Hi, I'm Azura! I am so happy I have found my way to this community.

Self Realization

This year I've been checking out lemmy. Just lurking around, being mostly drawn to !transmemes@lemmy.blahaj.zone and !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone because reading your posts and comments gave me this weird, funny, wholesome warmth that I just couldn't explain. "Like joy, but it hits differently".

relevant memes (spoiler)

One comment lead me to look up the "egg prime directive". 2nd search result was an article title Am I Trans, which answers the question, but - as the title implies - also goes beyond. And... oh girl, was that an emotional roller coaster! It's so suspiciously on point, I still need to figure out if the author (Cassie LaBelle) is secretly me from the future.

Early on in adolescence I started "accepting" that I wasn't afab and learned to suppress my feelings, to keep my fantasies in my dreams. I've actually asked myself several times throughout my life if I should consider a "transsexual transition", but my archaic understanding of the concepts made the whole thing appear scarier than it is. "What's to gain if I don't even hate myself"?

Gladly, the Am I Trans article cleared up a lot of my misunderstandings and fears. And the posts on lemmy.blahaj.zone gave me so much joy and hope! I knew that denying it any longer was hopeless. Not just becoming a woman, but the thought of having always been one feels oddly right to me. So, on my favorite day of the year, I hit that turn-me-into-a-girl.com button and transformed my lack of self hate into actual self love. Now here I am! As of writing: โœจ still closeted โœจ

But I'm working on a coming out. I am certain that my friends, coworkers and close family are all supportive, which is a great privilege.

About me

I'm about 30-ish, a programmer and political activist. I boycott eating animals. I live in a small city in Germany. I guess I can start considering myself a mom? No clue how long one has to wait for HRT here, but maybe my daughter and I will both hit puberty in parallel ๐Ÿ˜…

Shout out to @TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone and @QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works, your posts were the stars that guided me through the night๐Ÿฅš.

Love, Azura

Wait, almost forgot to add a photo. It hints at how I came up with the name "Azura".
