I am convinced China will one day create the healthy cigarette. Smoking culture there is still exploring freedoms Americans can barely remember. Chinese pilots were just banned from smoking in the cockpit in 2019, and that was because some idiot ruined everyone by tuning off the cabin circulation so he could vape.

I am assuming he did this so the rest of the plane wouldn't find out that he was huffing cotton candy instead of the sweet and smooth taste of the best flue cured golden tobacco Yunyan has to offer.

Those arent really better. Its the breathing smoke that does the most damage

Breathing smoke is generally bad, yes, but it also depends on what's in the smoke. Someone breathing campfire woodsmoke is not the same as someone breathing in smoke from melting plastic

Campfire woodsmoke is super super toxic as well, plastic is worse but wood is hardly a clean burn wither. There are differences but that between tobacco and whatever herbal cigarettes are around us pretty minimal. Ive seen this used as a pro weed anti tobacco thing as if they're mutually exclusive, yeah weed is less bad for you than tobacco but inhaling combusted carbon will always be really fucking bad for you regardless. No one is intentionally smoking fire wood or plastic

i'm not disagreeing, merely adding the context that there's varying degrees of harmful things. The relative level of carcinogens is relevant, and some things combust in very toxic forms. All smoking is going to be harmful, but the degree to which can vary like one hundred fold. Hookah for instance is WAY worse for than you than smoking weed via a bong, it's not even remotely close.

Humans have lived closely around campfires for hundreds of thousands of years. Obviously it may have shortened our average lifespans in terms of lung cancer, but it's not quite the same as people who are involved in a single extremely toxic fires without respiration protection - or even those who have to live next to toxic polluting factories. They can get diseases or die from a single exposure or within a matter of months.

Campfires are smaller. A factory that just burned wood for no reason would have nasty ass emissions, so scale comes into play there. But yeah, there are like...super toxic fires and sorta toxic fires, there are no nom toxic fires.

Didn't know about the hookah thing, why is thst worse? I have heard stoners over extol the virtue of water filtration via bong cause theyre stoners and are dumb.

The other major aspect to consider when choosing between cigarettes and smoking other stuff is that cigarettes are a drug and herbal cigarettes arent. So if you're smoking herbal cigarettes you're just breathing smoke cause you like the smell. You're still doing the majority of the harm and not getting any of the fun.

Both Hookahs and Bongs use water-filtration which doesn't really do too much other than cool down the smoke, which actually is worse because then you can hold it in your lungs longer and with deeper breaths. The reason Hookah is dangerous is because it's combusted Tobacco but cooled, so it's all the bad things of cigarettes with no filter and vastly higher volumes held with deeper breaths for longer. Nobody holds cigarette smoke in a deep breath, but they do for Hookah/Weed.

I was comparing like-with-like to demonstrate that weed smoke is vastly less toxic and carcinogenic than tobacco smoke is, by order of magnitudes. Combusted Tobacco just has more carcinogens and tar. It's just a more harmful substance when inhaled via combusted smoke, objectively.

Less harmful is still only relevant before a certain threshold. Weed also gets you high, unlike an herbal cigarette. I smoke cigarettes and joints, im smoking both at once rn cause i'm in flavor country. But there is a major major difference between 'if youre gonna smoke something weed is better than tabacco' and 'it's okay to smoke some stuff' and then two are often conflate or exaggerated by potheads, of which I am one but I will also totally smoke Crack if offered as well

Nah, I need full flavored, full nicotine, and completely healthy. Herbal cigarettes are marketing, I need a scientific solution.

Well, the nicotine itself is also poisonous and will lead to arteriosclerosis, peripheral neuropathy, and other conditions. It’s part of why I quit

This will also be addressed by the Chinese scientists. I believe in a post-scarcity world and I believe in that world we will have nicotine that is good for you. Denying my dream and the dreams of the people is reactionary, counterrevolutionary, and just mean.

I'm glad I quit smoking for the pouches, it's still nicotine, but at least I don't feel like my lungs are on fire and I'm dying half the time, lol

I'm sure it's just a translation issue, but "every single bite" is...something to say about a cigarette alright.

Why buy lavender-flavoured cigarettes when people smoke actual lavender? Still horrible for your lungs, but it's quite a lot cheaper

Long ago a friend of mine quit smoking by moving over to herbal cigs (no nicotine) and lavender was one of the main herbs in them. Just did a quick search and found these:

So nic-free herbal cigs are definitely an option for anyone seeking something different.

Is the filter 2/3 of the cigarette like the ones in the fifth element? I always wondered if something like that would actually be made
