I'm sure this is just a Chinese hoax, perpetrated by the "liberal media".

Why haven't the Democrats done anything to stop this!

I mean, they should have. It's not just a failure of duty but an actual crime against humanity. They should have seized power, declared a national emergency, suspended the sham elections and rounded up and imprisoned all the architects of the climate denial. Including half of fox news. Including Trump, who was a leading voice in climate denial. Then reorganized how we work and live and eat and manufacture.

Instead they collaborated. They allowed science denial on social media to go unchecked because it was necessary so they can ignore climate change. This is part of the reason why conspiracy theories, hate speech and the extreme reactionaries and fascists gained ground. When inconvenient truths threaten profit, you know which one has to go.

They claim they can't do this and that because of abstract principles like freedom of speech, but that is moronic. The actual principle is that people have a right to complete information to make good decisions. Not complete disinfo and chaos for profit.

There is a very real link between the liberal and laizzes faire neoliberal policies the rise of Trump and MAGA. Not just in the deterioration of institutions and practical quality of life, but in the abdication of power itself. Part of why Trump won (again) is because people know shit is fucked and they want someone, really anyone, to take power. To actually take power to change things, even if the plan is horrible. Not just thank you for the election and be charming for the next 4 years with "return to normal".

Sorry, this was way longer than intended lol
