Anyone else think its wild that they are phrasing it like a "huge loss" when its just another candidate in the same party and just more popular with voters within the party?

They're telling us who they are. This is their club and they're not taking kindly to any change that scares their clubs billionaire donors.

"They" aren't saying anything.

I encourage everyone to read the actual article. Axios inserted all this "fear a big loss" and other BS. They simply asked other house Democrats and they in general said she might lose and if they were her they'd be worried.

They didn't dismiss the challenger. They didn't endorse anyone. They didn't circle the wagons.

Everyone would be better off to see the bias the "journalist" here is putting in of their own accord. Theyre the one pushing you to pick a side and introducing conflict where there seemingly isn't any.

That’s true, and Axios is especially terrible with this—it’s a worthless biased rag IMO. But the party leadership’s silence and unwillingness to endorse the winning candidates when it’s obvious how popular they are, is quite loud in and of itself.

The people have been extremely clear about what they want, and what they want is not in the personal best interests of those in power. So it’s safer for leadership to stay quiet because they know that’s how they get more money (read: corruption) and the corporate interests will do the talking for them anyway, that’s one reason they were corrupted in the first place.

I don't think that's apparent at all unless you dismiss everywhere centrists are still winning.

How about everyone just chill, vote in primaries, and support whomever wins? A centrist is unlikely to win in Queens but a full blooded progressive is unlikely to win in west Virginia either. Nbd- work together where you can and drive us forward.

Why are the people trying to take power! They must be insurrectionists!

They're scared. Good.

We should use their own logic. They loose to democrats. That means they are not democrats. They’re imposters, self proclaimed imposters. Ought make their own centrist club and gtfo.

Yeah, I read it amd was like, "Yeah, this is why I can't get excited for midterms... wait... to the left? They mean like, left leaning Dems?"

[-] TronBronson@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

It seems like an honest admission that the dems are not left of anything.

[-] Sc00ter@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

I definitely had to read it twice. Really odd word choice

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 33 points 1 day ago

Also just one of my favorite bits of the article:

Zoom in: Kiros, a 29-year-old Democratic Socialists of America member backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), was born the same year that DeGette, 68, first took office.

Oh no! What a loss to lose the should be retiree

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

As well they should. Moderate Democrats have spent the last 1.5 years largely enabling fascists.

40 years. Reagan was when the neoliberal faction took away the last bit of FDR era Dems out of the picture.

[-] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

They are not enabling fascists, they are fascists. The controlled opposition.

[-] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

Colorado democrats are lousy, they have been for at least 15 years but much longer I'm sure. Fucking sell outs, with their fracking support.

[-] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

So much time spent worrying and no time spent asking why.

[-] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

This article really reads like the old saying, "Scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds." It's sounds like of the ones who actually lift a finger to care about this transition are using their time devising ways to keep leftists out rather than appeal in any ways to the voters who are swayed. Sure sounds like fascism is gonna make another bold appearance on the other side of the uniparty this time, even though it already objectively did when delegates vowed to vote against their voters if Bernie won.

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 3 points 1 day ago

Its an addiction I guess, as these octogenarian authoritarians decide the only way they will use their power is to hold on to it longer.

If we see them start to deny elections like Trump does we will know they truly will enact fascism before retire and give next generations even a scrap of respect.

[-] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Axios isn't worth reading.

[-] Skyrmir@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

It's worth it just to know the propaganda being pushed, the articles are trash.
