This came to me while being in bed, staring at the ceiling for too long for too little reasons.

It's a polite way to say that you thought of it while taking a dump.

Yeah.... Everyone knows that, and then OP marches in declaring that he deliberately shat in his bed...

I thought this sub was for people having thoughts about showers, not thoughts in the shower. This all makes sense now

Yeah, My shower thoughts are usually along the lines of "hmmm, the webhook handler keeps running into race conditions while modifying the record... The job queue should be handling it... But it's not for some reason ... There was that one refactor from a while back.... Ohhhhh the events aren't being queued because the refactored event hander was created before, but merged after, the job queue was introduced. I bet it isnt dispatching events to the queue so it's running the tasks in parallel... Fuck I should probably rinse and get out of the shower."

Hand squeegee yourself off before using your towel and it will get you much drier.

It takes me like 5 minutes to shower, 2 to brush my teeth, and 3 to clean the rest of me.

Not a lot of time for thinking.

Oh look at you, having the energy to not lose yourself to the void for endless amounts of time in the last place free of electronics

Nah I'm not unique. If I'm not washing my hair I can often have an earbud in listening to some podcast or television show.

Modern tech is addicting and exhausting.

I don't think about anything other than showering when I'm in the shower. Unless one of my dogs sticks their head in. Then I think about the dog's head being in the shower.

It's a showerhead!

My shower thoughts normally pop up during long runs.

When I have a thought that I want to post outside of a shower I make sure to jump in and see if it survives to keep thinking about while waterboarding myself.

Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
