It's always disappointing to see how quick people are to shit on others' attempts to build connections in their own ways.

Yeah, it's kind of silly to make a blinking light app when the phone implies they could just call or use one of a million text-based message options.

But he set aside his own time to build something he thought she would like. There are so many worse ways someone can spend their time on a computer (or in general), I don't see why this seems worthy of ridicule. Also, why phrase it as "she wants attention"? Is it really any worse than her calling and saying, "I miss you" or "I'm just bored and want to talk to you"?

I tried this many years ago as a way to stop being interrupted during work because task switching is extremely draining. The light was inconspicuous and out of sight from my desk. Didn't work in the slightest and I still get interrupted by my wonderful partner several times a day by her meowing at me.
