So, full disclosure, its us.

My house has 41 000 devices playing only this film, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Every wall, countertop, ceiling, cupboard, drawer and floor is just wired for K-Pop Demon Hunters. We had to add the corridor of iPads 32 768 cycles ago (all time in my house is gauged in KPDH cycles now) because my kids had a stray thought.

We are independently funding research into upscaling the film into a single 16K resolution holographic implant. We're having a little trouble with the thermocouple insulation, but we got data transfer rates to the cortex over 24 TB/s for the first time last week.

Unfortunately, this tech is only coded to a single digital experience, so there's no other practical application. Reverse-engineering it would result in a cascade of collapses across the existing physical architecture. There are load-bearing devices broadcasting KPDH built into the foundation of my house.

The neighbours have called the city. We go to arbitration next week. The judge is in the fanclub so I don't anticipate any problems.

Oh? None of this describes your home life? Well, aren't you special.

My youngest is a big fan of this movie. I like the plot, songs are good, I'm not a fan of the jerky animation style, but I can see why it's so popular. I'm not a huge kpop fan, but if she asks to listen to the soundtrack when we're driving somewhere I don't mind having it on. Even the main songs aren't as annoying as let it go or you're welcome.

I'm not a fan of the jerky animation style,

It's mimicking the expressiveness of 2d animation and it's one of my favorite parts about the movie! They're beautifully combining the strengths of 2d and 3d animation.

I respect that, just not my personal cup of tea.

The thing for me is, the other songs are way better than the main song, which is as you say pretty much the Let It Go of this generation. That’s the annoying part for me because the worst song in the soundtrack IMO is what gets overplayed.

Ya. Your Idol is the best track.

Honestly it was just plain fun, It's been a while since I've been able to sincerely just sit back and enjoy a movie because it was just plain fun, sort of felt like the old Pixar days

Sony is absolutely kicking themselves and likely fired the person who told them to divest their movies to Netflix because of the pandemic

[-] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 6 points 18 hours ago

Sony doesn't have a streaming service and is the only CG animation studio who is making successful, new movies with mass appeal. They're basically 90s Pixar and Netflix is sitting on piles of money. No one got fired if they recognized the franchise license opportunity. Sony already does it with Disney for Spider-Man. Why not another tentpole?

It's impressive that a one-off movie has such longlasting fame

[-] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 15 points 21 hours ago

It's either that or a film industry that hasn't released a lot of good films in recent years.

[-] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 13 points 20 hours ago

Column A, column B. They were literally about to throw this movie in the bin before Netflix swooped in and bought the rights.

[-] DisasterTransport@startrek.website 5 points 20 hours ago

Kids are obsessive. Not that that makes it any less impressive, but that's how this happens.

[-] Saapas@piefed.zip 2 points 20 hours ago

I'm not surprised, kids' stuff on Youtube is also doing great because parents can just put it on repeat
