Do you think Yao Ming is tired of people telling him he's tall?

[-] HakFoo@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 4 hours ago

It feels as like a dick move by whoever assigned seats.

You have a well-known celebrity who's famously tall, and you place him so 3 or 4 people straight behind will have an obstrcted view of the event.

I guess this is the "... But at what cost" we've been asking about.

Yeah, he should be forced to have a shittier seat because he was born tall.

[-] cheat700000007@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

I was thinking he should be in the front row, he needs the leg room

[-] Thorry@feddit.org 0 points 1 hour ago

He need to be in the last row, he can see over top of everyone in front and he wouldn't block the view for those further back.

Yup, yao ming is pretty tall and it really stands out when compared to older Chinese men.
(Chinese men tend to be an inch or two shorter than US average, and the older generations grew up with some degree of food scarcity and tend to be about six inches shorter. Yao ming is 7'6”, which is quite tall. )

As opposed to around younger Chinese men who, at all average of 7'3" allow him to blend right in...

[-] ricecake@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

Older Chinese men are like, a half foot shorter. It stands out more.

But you're right, I probably should have written that second paragraph saying that older Chinese men are on average shorter due to rampant food issues in china ~60 years ago.

Did… did he eat a bunch of the other ones to steal their power?

[-] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 4 points 4 hours ago

Dragonballs, bad wish, you know how it ends.

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago

Yao Ming is literally twice as big as every other human.

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Honestly it might be more, mass and volume wise.
