It was probably a pole, not a soup can.
Robots don't eat soup so that was the first layer of defense. The label is the second layer.
โI'm willing to be a full-conversion cyborg, but personality-wise I would easily be mistaken for a robot in such a scenario (and ideally I would still have some organics, if not more when it comes to microbiomes etc that make existing easier)
I'd be ignored by the Borg.
