I wonder if there'd be any consequences if he physically assaulted the interviewer

[-] drmoose@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

They rushed this for very next day after event which is the biggest red flag in journalism. I remember I used to take 60 minutes seriously.

[-] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 170 points 2 days ago

All media is complicit in sane-washing this fucked up narcissist pedophile. They are all protecting him.

[-] MJKee9@lemmy.world 48 points 2 days ago

More specifically, the billionaires controlling the "media." While a bare few legitimate media outlets still exist, the "media' the majority of the world sees is essentially edited propaganda for the billionaire class.

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

there are still people following those orders. they still have some level of culpability

[-] MJKee9@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I think you are conflating "media" with journalists, pundits, or personalities. I'm not saying only the billionaires are culpable. Instead, I'm pointing out that "media" as an institution is a mouthpiece for billionaire propaganda, as opposed to an independent institution that has been traditionally viewed (whether accurate or not) as a purveyor of "truth."

Independent journalism has evolved over the centuries from pamphleteers to scandal sheets to idiot bloggers and influencers. At every stage, there has been some good journalism, but also at every stage, 90% has been crap. I'm not sure it's possible to quantify how journalistic integrity scales with the size of the organization employing them, but I sincerely doubt that there's ever been journalism at any scale that hasn't been mainly horseshit.

After his lawsuits for editing, I feel the best course is to run everything he says without editing.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 16 hours ago

The lawsuit was just a conduit for a bribe.

[-] homes@piefed.world 63 points 2 days ago

Then it would be 60 Hours, not 60 Minutes

[-] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 12 points 2 days ago

I'm pretty sure he falls into a geriatric nap every 180 mins. Yknow, in between the angry rants and scarfing McDonald's and shitting his diaper.

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago

Six years ago, maybe. These days, there is no way he lasts that long staying awake during daylight hours.

Just him. Ask a simple question then tape him for an hour while he responds about transgender windmills.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

i wouldn't want my flours ground in a mill that only had the genders it was manufactured with

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

I like that quote and I'm gonna steal it with a minor change "I don't want my grains ground in a mill that...".

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

thank you i got it from a seagull

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 24 points 2 days ago

I feel someone with money should sue 60 minutes for editing. There's precedent for it and all...

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

With some sort of chyron streaming across the bottom of numbered generated using the time code as a seed.

[-] Saprophyte@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago

The whole video was posted to YouTube on 60 minutes overtime.

40 minutes of footage for a 13 minute time slot.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 104 points 2 days ago

"There’s so many things that I’m against. I don’t think they’re controversial. I think the other side is controversial, but I do a lot of things and I get things done.”

The man doesn't understand words.

[-] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 32 points 2 days ago

He doesn't understand not raping kids too.

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 4 points 2 days ago
[-] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 26 points 2 days ago

He’s like the futurama 80s business guy

I’m not BLANK, the other side is BLANK.

[-] Crystalbound@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

Or percentages. Any normal human behavior, really.

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago

Doesn't need to. He loves the poorly-educated.

Time for the administration to sue them for altering an interview, right?

[-] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago

Altering interviews can be criminalized in that place?

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 7 points 1 day ago

Civil lawsuit. Not criminal prosecution.

[-] kmartburrito@lemmy.world 49 points 2 days ago

Let him make himself look like an idiot! FFS. At this point if you're sanitizing it, you're part of the problem

[-] wuffah@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago

The NOT INCLUDED parts of the transcript are what got cut.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 15 hours ago
[-] wuffah@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

The transcript is below the video, but you can watch the full 60 Minutes interview here if you’re able to stomach it.

[-] WesternInfidels@feddit.online 26 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

He thinks we should be grateful that his ballroom plan wasn't a hotel.

And this has bulletproof glass. This has you know, this is the highest level of security. Also, very importantly, I could have built suites on top. I could have done a lot of things. I said, no, no, we have this has to be pure. This has to be where people stay off property and they go through one very impactful, very strong entrance, one very powerful entrance. There’s no games with this.

And he refers to the ballroom that isn't there in the past tense, already done.

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 day ago

This means that he 100% wanted there to be a Trump hotel on top and needed to be convinced not to.

Can you imagine how disgustingly tacky that would have been?

[-] sturmblast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

And the security risks

[-] sturmblast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago
[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 11 points 2 days ago

Oh man I was unaware of the 60 minutes interview or the unedited cut...and posted a trump-esque rant about the "assassination attempt" earlier this morning that hit on some of the same exact points as his.

That's fucking great.

[-] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

I want to see that video she has. It's hard enough to listen to trump. The transcript almost helps him because people can go at their own pace.

[-] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago

Release the Snyder cut

[-] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 days ago

Wait. So the crazy shit they did show, was just the stuff they kept in?

[-] mazzilius_marsti@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

wtf did i just read......

[-] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 12 points 2 days ago

If they edited out his rants then they might as well not air the interview because without the rants there's nothing left.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 15 hours ago

As LBJ said (and C. Hitchens stole): if you gave him an enema, you could bury what's left in a shoebox.

[-] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 8 points 2 days ago

The truth burns him like holy water to a demon.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago

“They emptied our prisons into our country. They have mental institutions, insane asylums, into our country. And I don’t know if that’s controversial to say we have to move those people out, but we have and, but it is from the standpoint you’re doing something and you’re doing something that’s good,” he said. “Things like, men playing in women’s sports, I’m against it. Things like transgender for everyone. I’m against that. There’s so many things that I’m against. I don’t think they’re controversial. I think the other side is controversial, but I do a lot of things and I get things done.”

“You know, I’m not a king.… I see these No Kings which are funded just like the [Southern Poverty Law Center] was funded. You all that Southern Laws, financing the KKK and lots of other radical, terrible groups. And then they go out and they say, Oh, we’ve got to stop the KKK. And yet they give them hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars. They work. It’s a total scam run by the Democrats. It shows you that, like Charlottesville, Charlottesville was all funded by the Southern Law,” Trump said—a completely outrageous claim given that neo-Nazis and white supremacists like Richard Spencer and Nick Fuentes were there. “That was a Southern Law deal too. And it was done to make me look bad. And it turned out to be a total fake. It basically was a rigged election. This was a part of the rigging of the election.”

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 15 hours ago

There's no other explanation for that besides brain rot.

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

They emptied our prisons into our country. They have mental institutions, insane asylums, into our country.

I've been saying for years now that Trump doesn't understand the difference between insane asylums and political asylum. I wish the media would make this connection and call him out on it.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 15 hours ago

He's fixating on keywords because that's the closest approximation to thinking that he does.

[-] grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 2 days ago
