It supposedly comes from Czech "robota" which refers to Corvée labor not slavery.

Also in polish the same word it literally just means "labor" or "work", even our Workers Party was named Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza (Polish United Workers Party)

Forced serfdom and indentured servitude are forms of slavery. Not chattel slavery in the way that the slave trade was, but nonetheless it was coerced and forced labor
