Some of us straights are super weirded out by it too. It's either that or mean and I for one don't find either of those things sexy.

Mannn I just want to see two (or more) people who are super into each other clearly having fun. Is that too much to ask for?

Are whips and chains bourgeois decadence?

[-] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 46 points 1 month ago

It's just SEO crap.

Add two words to the filming process and you get like seven additional hashtags. Basically it's the direct result of profit incentive lol.

[-] mrmisses@lemmy.world 38 points 1 month ago

We need less step shit and more trans lesbian porn imo. All the best trans girls are straight 😞

There are so many of us. 🥺

[-] tomiant@piefed.social 6 points 1 month ago

No we need more straight up incest stuff, fuck that step noise, if you're into that you're clearly into incest fetish proper

I hate it. Drop the "step" you cowards!

getting there, one step at a time

[-] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

That's also really weird. As if that makes it quasi-incest. No, it's still just plain incest.

[-] zqps@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

Legally it does make all the difference.

[-] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

In the US, if the actors were related, then that would be illegal. The characters being related is totally immaterial, though. If it was relevant, then certain scenes in Game of Thrones would have been illegal. The law says nothing about fictional siblings getting it on, just real ones.

Payment processors, on the other hand, care a lot.

You want a real answer?

I don't give a shit about the "siblings" part. Half the time its on mute. Those videos just tend to have a setting I prefer with actresses who are way less doped up on plastic than a lot of other stuff.

Its basically the same idea as "amature" with actual camera work instead if a handicam on a tripod positioned 3 rooms away while ants fuck.

[-] QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

wait you watch porn on mute?

everyone hates the step sibling porn, wait why is it consistently a top category ?

it's either a psyop or people here are just lying

[-] Impound4017@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 month ago

Tbf if I was into the step sibling shit, then not even Guantanamo could get that info out of me - you take that to the grave lmao. You’re just seeing selection bias imo

I think it comes more down to the style/cinematography and the type/appearance of the women cast

It is rather odd, 10, 15 years ago it was a thing but not the thing, now it is like a big percentage of all porn. And all porn is a very big thing, the internet is like over 50% porn thank god. Or thanks somebody. But 10 to 15 years ago it was like Russian porn sites that were doing the step incest thing, now it's everyone. Go figure I don't know.

[-] ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

10-15 years ago was 2011-2016 amigo

There was plenty of that stuff in the American porn scene by then

The “what are you doing stepbro?” joke originated in that period, which inherently necessitated market saturation of that type of porn to work as a mainstream joke

[-] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 month ago

Easy setting that barely required a studio plus the rise of amateur/indie videos. It was expected tbh.

[-] CyanideShotInjection@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Bold of you to assume there is no gay step porn.

Oh no, step-gay, I'm stuck in a washing machine!

[-] bedwyr@piefed.ca 4 points 1 month ago

I forgot the number but one of the rules of the internet is that whatever kind of weird kink you can think of it already exists on the internet. 56 is it? That's the only number of the rule of the internet I know

Honestly the only good thing about the UK banning step porn is that with any luck I can stop muting my porn. Seriously when they call each other bro, sis, mom or anything I get a soft-off.

Kinks are kinks. Incest fantasies are like one of the most common ones on the list.

[-] Ziglin@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I am not straight, nor do I have siblings. Rationally I don't really see why there would be an issue with siblings having sex recreationally without producing children, which wouldn't even be an issue with step siblings. ~~With step parents the age difference might also be acceptable~~. Edit: not really, since the age difference between the parent and step parent would then likely be an issue. Also I intentionally did not exclude the possibility that it could be an issue. But the other power dynamics associated with step parents are obviously not negligible

Someone recently posted a Wikipedia link to an effect where people growing up together don't feel sexual attraction to each other, which is the primary reason why I assume it is a taboo (I used to think it was because of the negative health effects for incestuous children), but so long as all involved parties consent I see no issue.

[-] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

With step parents the age difference might also be acceptable.

Excuse me, what? You're not insinuating it would be ok for a step-parent to have sex with their step-child, are you?

Yeah, there are uncomfortable power dynamics at play for those roles

[-] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Yeah! It’s inherently abusive because of those power dynamics.

I don't care about the plot. It's all about how the actors look. If they're hot and do positioning and camera angles I like l, I watch. If not, I don't. The plot I usually skip anyway

[-] chicken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago

I wish there was like, a way to specify a tag blacklist in your browser that will apply to all relevant sites even if you aren't logged in or don't have an account on those sites

[-] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 8 points 1 month ago

Or porn sites should just let you exclude terms like regular search engines. "-step", done.

[-] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

One of the biggest failings of porn sites is the shitty quality of their tag and search functions.

Why can't everything be as good as a well maintained booru.

[-] voldage@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Eh, it's just about the taboo being exciting. It could've been anything else, somehow it landed on that. At this point it's so oversaturated it feels like it's weirder if the characters aren't related. It's also entirely possible that ceo of pornhub wants to fuck his kids, so they push for that. I think if we blame them directly they'd change that rather quickly and other porn sites would follow suit.

[-] Phantaminum@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

For me feels like 1000 years little girl on anime that is sexualized, just a way yo "white wash" taboo kinks.

[-] lath@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago

Porn itself is a lifestyle choice. There are dozens of people who live quite happily without porn.

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 10 points 1 month ago

Sexuality is also a gigantic sliding scale. And I would rather have gooners than incels.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
