Dumbasses continue to use the platform then bitch about it. Either stop using it, or shut the fuck up.

This. Twitter is now under ownership and control of a spoiled fascist richboy and this is absolutely 100% transparently clear. This is how the platform is now and it is not going to change. Twitter as we knew it is gone. It's dead and not coming back. Move the hell on, people, please. Stop supporting this absolutely wretched waste of oxygen.

I've never used twitter in my life, still have a vague interest in what Musk is doing to it though.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 months ago

It's never that simple. Politicians use it, businesses use it, world news has been made on it. Regardless of whether you use Twitter or not, it has been and is used to sway public opinion. You can NOT use it all you want, but it can still have an effect on your life.

That is, unless you can convince literally everyone else to stop using it.

inertia is very strong apparently

he wasn't complaining about shadow bans in a philosophical sense, he was complaining about them being used against the "wrong" people the whole time. the sooner we realize that right wingers make self-serving complaints and dress them up as matters of fairness or civility, the less likely we are to fall for them in the first place.

Conservatives operate on the principle that there's an in group and an out group. The in group is protected by law and the out group is bound by it.

"Meet me in the middle!" says the unreasonable man.

You take a step forward. He takes a step backwards.

Like bellybuttons.

I haven't seen any of the anti cancel culture people complain about anti-war groups being targeted currently. It was never about the principle, they just want to be able to say the n-word in public again.

Elon, complaining about all the "crimes" other people are committing and he's going to come in and "save" us all.
AKA, all his "complaints" are the crimes he intends to commit against us all.
Conservatives worship hypocrisy.

Breaking news: Elon is a hypocrite. In other news, snow found to be cold.

I mean, it's not like this is new. He ranted about free speech for months, then as soon as he bought twitter, he started removing journalists that spoke out against him. He's scum, plain and simple.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago

"Triggered snowflake uses cancel culture on free speech activists" seems about right here

[–] [email protected] 28 points 10 months ago

amazing how elon went from that nerdy guy in pop culture on big bang theory to complete edge lord loser who is desperate for affection from 14 year old 4channers who communicate through meme

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Everyone loves free speech, until they don't.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Once again I am reminded of Hank Green saying "A lot of people who say they want "free speech" actually just want to be the one in charge of which speech is free."

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

Your freedoms end where mine start. It's as simple as that.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

That tracks.

Pretty sure Elon Musk railed against bots on twitter despite having been proven to have used bots on twitter to manipulate opinion himself.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

It doesn't matter. I'm not a Twitter user anymore. The site has lost both its value and influence... I really don't give a damn what the man-baby does with his toy.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I assumed that's why he bought it in the first place.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 10 months ago

He bought it because he couldn't stop being an arrogant edgelord keyboard shit-talker, and he accidentally made himself personally legally liable doing so. The Twitter board called his bluff, seeing the most amazing opportunity to rid themselves of an expensive and slowly dying company, and Musk had already pissed off the SEC (or one of the other financial government services) enough that he was at risk of having his finances in other companies audited.

So he was forced to buy it because he's an impulsive troll. Everything else since then is pretty incidental, and unsurprisingly dripping with hypocrisy like this.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago

Elon Musk should never ever appear on Technology

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago

Guys stop pointing out his techno Ponzi schemes you're ruining the money

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Elon Musk being hypocritical and petty? Shockingly Unprecedented. Then again it does give everyone another reason to just stop using Twitter.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The problem is finding a viable alternative. Mastodon and Firefish are too much trouble for most people, BlueSky is a walled garden and Threads is... Well, Threads is Threads, enough said.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

No one cares

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

He also shrieked about bots, and now he parades his own around.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

.mf should be a good tld for him.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

eh, next drama about the brainless musk.
