Former zamboni guy here. The mess and even destruction is not uncommon in my decades of experience. What is uncommon is a team being held to account for thier actions. Good on the arena for speaking up and the hockey association taking thier complaints seriously.

I don’t think the janitor would escalate to telling the arena manager, who then emails the league, who then do this unless it was bad.

But people can be assholes and vindictive and there’s nothing really presented other than the tan saying it was not that bad.
