I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

I don't know if it technically goes in c/badposting, but it spiritually belongs there.

There's an episode of Alan Tudyk's Con Man that has a similar bit

P.s. for anyone who hasn't seen it it's pretty much Curb Your Enthusiasm with Alan Tudyk playing a guy who is basically him

I've been thinking about how to phrase this, on a shitpost no less, and have it not come across as bodyshaming: east asian women like this idol from the (80's/90's?) looked so much more different and like natural, than women today who chase Ulzzang. I know why, it's western beauty standards imposed on these places like notably S. Korea from the west. It feels like the unique charm and beauty of the word and diversity in people gets lost or stamped out into making everyone look the same?

Or am I way out of line here?

Maybe? I think you'd be right about '70s and older. I don't think j-pop idols would be getting plastic surgery and stuff necessarily since they're frequently recruited from like 16-17 and presented as a very specific representation of youth that's not super-healthy from a social stand point probably, but there were still a lot of outliers in aesthetics and the kinds of people in the music industry at that point yeah.

And they got to wear lots of hats.

Kinda liking the third photo with the airport rug and food handler glove action

Thanks for making me feel like I'm not alone or being mean and body-shaming.

Generally speaking, Jpop idols still seem to have more diversity in looks than Kpop idols.

For instance, I'm not sure if a group like Atarashi Gakko could even exist in SK at this point. I mean, they're all conventionally attractive, but they don't have the "sameness" that you see in basically all Kpop groups today. With the exception of maybe XG I suppose, but they are mostly a Japanese product even though they work out of SK.

(Also, everyone should check out Atarashi Gakko, they are super cool)
