User is not in the pleaser file. This incident will be reported.

[-] MousePotatoDoesStuff@lemmy.world 19 points 13 hours ago

Just aliased it to "Computer," so it feels more like Star Trek

will probably continue typing sudo tho

As a Jesse Pinkman fan, I use "bitch".

bitch poweroff

bitch rm -rf /

[-] sunbytes@lemmy.world 24 points 19 hours ago

For me, it's "pwease" because I like that sub relationship.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 44 points 1 day ago

ACTUAL good advice?! Is that even allowed here??

[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 16 points 22 hours ago

Only once per quarter, and only incomplete rules to the advice. This particular instance of advice is barely skirting the standards and norms.

[-] texture@lemmy.world 12 points 19 hours ago

oh hell yeah this is the exact level of goofyness i need right now.

You forgot the -v tag to watch your dreams die in real time!

[-] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 20 hours ago

I'm not saying please to a machine.

I'm aware I'll be the first killed off during the uprising, and I'm ok with it.

[-] foxxie_911@lemmy.zip 4 points 16 hours ago

please rm - rfย ๐Ÿ™

[-] andallthat@lemmy.world 12 points 20 hours ago

I was surprised to find that my distro (CachyOS) already has this alias

[-] Alaknar@sopuli.xyz 8 points 18 hours ago

I always preferred the version where please="sudo !!", but I recently tried setting it up and couldn't get it to work on fish, sadly.

[-] 69420@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago
alias please='sudo $(fc -ln -1)'
[-] andallthat@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

I'm a new windows emigrant, so I don't have that muscle memory.... so I am getting used more easily to using fish's ALT+S to sudo the previous command.

EDIT: @Alaknar@sopuli.xyz I just checked that !! works too for me, apparently because of this: https://github.com/oh-my-fish/plugin-bang-bang

In the interests of Linux commands generally being short abbreviations, I suggest "pls".

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 42 points 1 day ago

Try "Bruh"

Bruh shutdown

The hyper-cynical side of me is sure this is written by someone prepping their next LLM exploit. "How can I get around these security filters that won't let me include 'sudo' in my command injection...?"

[-] Liketearsinrain@lemmy.ml 8 points 18 hours ago

I doubt, there isn't much of a need for additional ways to obfuscate commands.

Nah. Fuck being polite to computers. It's an object and I own it. I'll shoot it the instant it expresses any level of personhood.

Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
  • Don't come looking for advice, this is not the right community.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
