I really like card games like this game, but most other alternatives I could find are pay to win. Are there any similar games like Marvel:Midnight Suns?

I was a big fan of Griftlands, it has more story than something like Slay the Spire. If you're more into the positioning stuff, Fights in Tight Spaces is excellent too.

Will look into it. Thanks for the recommendations!

Griftlands is one that I now pull out once or twice a year, play obsessively for a week, and sigh when I remember that there's no plans for a sequel. It's such a charming game.

It’s a novel hybrid of two genres, so the recommendations are all going to be split between them. The best (western) turn based tactics game is likely XCOM 2: War of the Chosen. The best deckbuilder card game is likely Slay the Spire.

If you want a tactics game that retains the social/character aspects, you’re looking for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but that’s on the switch.

Maybe something like Slay The Spire or Monster Train? There's not as much 3D positioning though

These look interesting. Thanks!

If you want slightly less tactical (but even more fun) turn based combat with a lot more RPG, divinity 2 original sin is phenomenal.

If i think about card games i have to mention "Inscryption" but it is very weird in a good way.

Then there are great positioning games like "Into the Breach" which has a very tight and simple gameplay loop and the Last Spell which is more complex with RPG elements.

Had fun with all 3 for very different reasons.

I'm a huge fan of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden and Miasma Chronicles. They're both made by the same developer, The Bearded Ladies. Both feature excellent post apocalyptic stories, characters and turn based combat, but with real time free roaming and exploration in between. Biggest difference is in MYZ you have a crew largely composed of anthropomorphic animals, who are hilarious. In MC, your main character (Elvis) and robot brother Diggs are trying to find your mom.

If I has to pick one I'd say I liked MYZ a little better, but it's close. MYZ also is a lot older so you should be able to find it cheap.

Fights in Tight Spaces scratches the tactics card game itch rather well
