I make a bigger deal of my dog's birthday than my birthday.
The cat and me share our birthday, this year for the 19th time. I always cook him a cat dinner, served warm. Rest of the year he is on a strict diet.

I don't know my cats birthday because she was a stray, but her estimated age lined up with my birth month so I registered her with a birthdate the same as mine (but many years younger)

idk bud, pulling out my unamused face is a cornerstone of my humour. Being old helps because it's an "oh shit" moment rather than a "lol you are cute when you are mad" moment.
When I was in Uni we got a cake made that said "just write [message] on it, and don't mess it up" and took a photo of the student society president (who ordered the cake) frowning at it. Comedy!
I mean I'm closer to 40 than 30, and expressing nonplussed as a kind of intentionally sarcastic 'comedy' just reads as either pain or smugness or annoyance.
Maybe funny in small doses, but if its a regular staple of your 'comedy', its not very good comedy, it just conveys dissapointment.
There's also a large difference between an intentional group photo where everyone is collectively doing a frown, performatively, and a one on one photo that is candid and ostensibly significantly based around the subject of the photo.
I think what I am struggling to understand about this reply is why you are so confident the photo wasn't posted as a joke.

Female cats are like that. When I met my boyfriend I had two female cats and the first time he stayed over at my place, they were the two biggest harlots, basically pissing all over girl code and hanging on him like he was a tall glass of water in a desert. Even meowing loudly whenever he went to the bathroom. Zero loyalty.
And then a few years ago my in-laws got a female cat and she is all over my father in law like he's made of sunshine. :b

People who make jokes like this are often people who are very insecure and overcompensate by being very controlling, and then pass off stuff like this as 'funny' or 'sarcastic'... when it really isn't, it just actually is them being jealous of either themself not getting as much attention as they want, or somebody giving / getting attention from not them.

The joke could also be on the wife depending on the perspective. Kinda in the Mrs Hyacinth kind of way. We don't laugh at Richard for being oppressed and abused by his wife. We laugh at her for being such an insufferable dummy. That's the type of joke I got out of this birthday picture. A Mrs Hyacinth joke.
Honestly, I don't think it is that deep. I think you're hurting, which is valid, but you're projecting your own hurt onto one photo and judging an entire relationship based off of one joke-pic. If we knew more about their relationship dynamic and what they are like as people, we may be better equipped to judge whether or not this joke is made by two people who thinks it's funny or made by one party to humiliate the other. We literally don't know.

How many people actually know their cat's birthday? I wrote mines down on the vet paperwork as Valentine's because it was September and they said she was probably about 8 months old.
I've had a lot of cats and I don't know any of their birthdays. My ex would just put down January 1 of the year.
Unless that cake is actually for the cat (and not Tim), then he can wipe that smug frown off his face, lol

You can order cakes with realistic pictures on them, they basically get “printed” on top of the icing with laser jet printers loaded with edible ink.
Nice, this potentially opens up some prospects of questionable cheeky presents.

Gorgeous. Seems pretty demanding on the decorator, however — both in labor and in moral dubiousness. Printing offloads the effort onto the customer, and allows photorealistic-ish pics. Can't argue against the 3d factor, though.
Hehehe, it's all about how badly you want your filthy cake decoration to be in 3D. But all joking aside, you should be able to get those photo realistic cake at bakeries that do them - and often you can ask them to just print the pic for you on an icing sheet instead of making the whole cake - in case you want to make the cake yourself.
