i'm gonna make a game that's just a character creator. it's gonna be the most intricately designed creator ever, tons of menus and options, but it will be impossible to make a white straight cisgender man. If you try, you'll get error messages or like a little Clippy assistant pops up and makes changes for you. The game wouldn't tell you what's happening or why. Also if by some miracle you do manage to thread a needle I didn't account for and somehow make a cis-het man, the main game starts and all NPCs are queer and all they do is quiz you about Xi Jinping thought. And if you fail it boots you back to the main menu and you have to read 20 pages of yaoi before continuing. And the game is gonna be called something like "The Antidote to Wokeness"

Any time I meet a transphobe irl I’ll ask them how many trans people they actually know or interact with and the answer is always zero.

Doesn’t ever make them reconsider anything but it does make them look dumb to anyone listening. I can’t imagine getting so upset about something that has zero bearing on my life.

Surprised nintendo is doing this, I thought a part of their "non-controversial" "family" image would mean they wouldn't want to include things like this or gay marriage in a game. Though they probably recognise that approximately 0% of the CHUDs complaining about this were ever going to buy the game.

It’s a bit the other way around. There was complaints from players of the prior Tomodachi game about the lack of same-sex relationships (I think it might have been possible in an early version of the game but got patched out). People were like “I want to put my gay friends on my island but then they end up in heterosexual relationships.” So Nintendo promised to make the next game more inclusive in order to satisfy the players.
