i see no one really picked them up and it hurt looking at the generators page and seeing it endlessly try to load events. so i just started up the next one. I think what I will do then, is not try and have someone else take over, but dedicate a page of my own site to streamlining the process and maintaining at least the ai image one. That way it won't be an ordeal for me, won't be complicated, and won't dissuade others from trying events either. Sounds like the thing to do.

So there is an event up and someone on the other post mentioned there should be more events. I agree, though I only really generate images occasionally, so consider me a noob with everything else. So you'll have to tell me what we want. I know vionet ran some AICharacterCreation events and i thought those were cool. Generator jams also were a thing, tho few participated, tho that was also before ai code assist. Other options?

Tell me what we should have and I will run one and simultaneously add it as an event type my site can make future of in a streamlined, nonlaborintensive way. upon no feedback im thinking a character jam starting probably next week.

I advise to make a pinned post about the Events and in Technical Perchance Forum . With a link to a post with an event that is in "Casual Perchance" forum

good idea.. I will be quite and observe bout time i did that anyway... was stuck in the main t2i generator for way to long.

i think maybe u say alot with no one really responding so it could seem switching to quiet watching solves it. and maybe 'less' comments if thats the case could help. but honestly i think trying to be a silent watcher is the wrong way. If u only do 1 comment a month, but still no one can understand it, the situation wont really be much better or more enjoyable for u (xcept less ppl will be mad). i personally think a good solution is less about not commenting and more about shifting your normal comment style to be more positively engageable. right now, beside these comments, its a wall for most people.

hope my honesty doesnt hurt. i like you and im glad youre here

not what I mean. I get addicted to chats, doesn't help. but Imma work on it. The other thing like Technical stuf‐‐is technical stuff, so putting it where it goes, and fully explaining it would still be MO. The best place for it usually is a Gemini convo, then posted where ever it need be. Anyway not trying to spam your post sry allo.

i think u should have 2 modes.

one where u value conciseness and small yet beautifully true comments. and are attentive to what they can understand and fitting words within that.

and the other where u dont hold back.

i cant understand you normally, but i appreciate unique people so i appreciate you anyway, and some others are like me in this way. anyway, just my personal feedback :)

You are awesome Allo. Thank you for being good people. I’m honestly terrible at most of the things I do, but I’ve noticed on one of the AI chat sites I visit from time to time. There’s an event system that focuses mostly on seasonal flavors, major calendar holidays, and similar occasions. Because it’s an AI chat site, users often create characters that connect to the current theme in some way. It seems to be popular, which made me think: maybe a character-creation event could exist on a perpetual rotation. The goal would be to streamline things and keep it simple for whoever has to maintain or update it regularly. I’ve seen that you’re considering a character jam, and what I’m getting at is that this could function similarly. Most of the structure for the event's could be created in advance, making ongoing maintenance easier. This would provide users with a consistent, recurring event and, over time, something they come to expect. That familiarity and simplicity could help reach more people overall.

Some issues i think are hindering events:

1, I don’t see them advertised. (it may list the event when on the generators page but perhaps if the events become streamlined and are made to be a reoccurring aspect of the community they could be set to show at the top of the page like in the photo i have attached)

2, They’re hosted off-site. (i think this is a small thing, but for example with your image contest. i think if users didn't have to leave the site and go to lemmy that there would a larger group of participants.) 3, They’re beyond the scope of the average user. (By that last point, I mean most users primarily generate AI images or chats, so more complex generator-based events often fail to get attention.)

i wonder if there could be some fun way to get users into learning about perchance and all the things that can be done on it as i think a lot of the traffic is just people who ai image gen stuff, and miss the vast library of other amazing gens there are. im sorta rambling now so Anyway, thank you for all the work you do. I hope some of this is useful. If you ever need help and there’s something within my ability to contribute to, I’d be happy to try.

<3 u so much. I secretly visited your gen the other day :) it looks so different, but also nice, and also like it was wounded and also like you still have a nice commnity.

i agree i think having events be fully inside Perchance would be ideal. Maybe ppl submit content on a comments and a mod then adds accepted content to something? that could function with perchance as it is.

user account access could allow more things like the voting and idk what else. maybe not needed?

ironically im making my streamliner outside perchance, but thats where my code base and server are. maybe it can port in if helpful. i use Kiwibrowser now and it actually doesnt show the keyboard in either perchance code box. so i am blocked from coding on perchance beyond copy, cut, and paste.

i also agree with them becoming more real and featured as they are more streamlined. something i wonder tho is if we are stuck with how they are. i uninstalled discord so idk if vionet is active there, but it seemed like vionet set all the event stuff up on the hub and also the generators page but i now havent seen vionet in months. is vionet still with us? dont know what can or cant be changed, or whether vionet/perchance has to do it or not. as far as i know, vionet is the only one perchance lets make and control parts of perchance itself.

i think events are potentially a strong part of a vibrant community.

more 'just thoughts' anyway. love hearing yours ty!

The hub is declining

https://allotopia.org/PerchanceEvents

well at least thats way easier.

dont look at the rest of my site yet lol. enter dateFrom, dateTo, Topic, Preview image, and it gens the post, which can be touched to copy.

dont need login to make event so it can in theory be ported to a perchance page. tho all i made so far is ability to gen the img challenge, which i run anyway, so im fine with it being in my site framework since its part of what i do each month. will test tomorrow if the date created by the datetime js input is format vionet accepts. If so it should all work.

was also thinking while doing this "its hard using a system i didnt make" since im just guessing at options and requirements. maybe should ask @perchance@lemmy.world whether they find community events important, whether they should stay using lemmy, and general perspective on community events. on my site i will probably make the community events system myself and have them tied to my account system and not use something like lemmy.

and i code on phone so im sure it looks hideous on computer

⚄︎ Perchance

This is a Lemmy Community for perchance.org, a platform for sharing and creating random text generators.

Feel free to ask for help, share your generators, and start friendly discussions at your leisure :)

This community is mainly for discussions between those who are building generators. For discussions about using generators, especially the popular AI ones, the community-led Casual Perchance forum is likely a more appropriate venue.

See this post for the Complete Guide to Posting Here on the Community!

Rules

1. Please follow the Lemmy.World instance rules.

2. Be kind and friendly.

  • Please be kind to others on this community (and also in general), and remember that for many people Perchance is their first experience with coding. We have members for whom English is not their first language, so please be take that into account too :)

3. Be thankful to those who try to help you.

  • If you ask a question and someone has made a effort to help you out, please remember to be thankful! Even if they don't manage to help you solve your problem - remember that they're spending time out of their day to try to help a stranger :)

4. Only post about stuff related to perchance.

  • Please only post about perchance related stuff like generators on it, bugs, and the site.

5. Refrain from requesting Prompts for the AI Tools.

  • We would like to ask to refrain from posting here needing help specifically with prompting/achieving certain results with the AI plugins (text-to-image-plugin and ai-text-plugin) e.g. "What is the good prompt for X?", "How to achieve X with Y generator?"
  • See Perchance AI FAQ for FAQ about the AI tools.
  • You can ask for help with prompting at the 'sister' community Casual Perchance, which is for more casual discussions.
  • We will still be helping/answering questions about the plugins as long as it is related to building generators with them.

6. Search through the Community Before Posting.

  • Please Search through the Community Posts here (and on Reddit) before posting to see if what you will post has similar post/already been posted.
