In the past decade there have been a drop in protests coverage worldwide, governments are now following instructions not to report on these.

The political elite all have economic ties to Russia and don't represent the will of their people causing significant tension.

I mean a lot of countries have long running protests against their governments. While not an everyday occurrence, Serbs have been protesting since 2024 against the corruption of their government, government which is backed by literal war criminals.
