Everything about the vehicle screams "Collisions are fatal at anything faster than walking speed".

[-] Sergio@piefed.social 25 points 1 month ago

It's like a bumper car with no bumpers.

[-] 69420@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago

It's just begging to tip over.

[-] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago

The seat is what really bugs me, it looks like hitting a pothole could easily jostle you enough to make you fall out.

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

Yeah, I wonder if it has any suspension at all. Doesn’t look like there’s much ground clearance to allow it from this angle.

[-] paultimate14@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

So just like every modern vehicle?

Or did you only mean the passengers and not pedestrians?

[-] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 40 points 1 month ago

45 mph in that thing sounds terrifying.

And I'm a motorcycle rider.

[-] Quetzalcutlass@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

The closer you are to the ground, the faster it feels like you're moving. 45 in that thing probably feels like 80 in a regular car.

[-] toynbee@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I have a '79 Corvette. It's very close to the ground.

I've occasionally described driving fast in it as "visceral."

[-] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago

Well... Now I'm upset that we aren't all doodling around in our doodlebugs.

[-] expatriado@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

so, an scooter with extra fairings

[-] PugJesus@piefed.social 12 points 1 month ago

And an extra wheel.

[-] wieson@feddit.org 14 points 1 month ago

In real units that's:

  • 7 kW
  • 72 km/h
  • 3,36 L per 100 km
[-] AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 month ago

How much mileage will it get once my lard ass doubles its weight, though?

[-] sramder@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Depends on if you’re on a hill?

[-] Avicenna@programming.dev 11 points 1 month ago

10 hitpoints seem kinda high for that car. I would expect more like 5

[-] Rooster326@programming.dev 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

5 is when the driver is ejected.

It's got 2 health bars

[-] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 8 points 1 month ago

Sharing its name with a somewhat more infamous motorised vehicle of the time

The V-2 missile was nicknamed the Doodlebug.

[-] smeg@feddit.uk 5 points 1 month ago

FYI it's the V1 which was the doodlebug, it was more of an unmanned plane (or bomb with wings) than the V2 (which was the missile)

Rope doors

Top speed 45 mph

It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand.

[-] toynbee@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago
[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

why he took off the door.

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

We tried again in the 70s with this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HM_Vehicles_Free-way

It did 100mpg at 40mph with 12hp. Used a snow mobile drive and similar frame.

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

76 citicar, banned because it distracted too many women.

[-] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

There were more than a few microcars over the years, though of course most of them outside the US. They often look quite fun, browsing through image search is a nice pastime.

[-] Ghostwurm@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Katy Perry is a lot older than I thought she was.

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 1 month ago

Looks like a bumper car.
